The 2 storey cottage is on a 'chemin rural' (country lane) with 3 cars and 10 cows each way each day. Its half acre orchard garden contains a large barn and an outbuilding. The views across the valley (mainly forested) below are superb. Access to the cottage via wooden steps to the south facing terrace which gives onto the front door. May through September the terrace is, subject to weather, suitable for use for nice outdoor meals (breakfast, supper). It may be too hot at mid-day. Parking on the opposite side of the barn from the house (who wants to look at their car?!). Sanas is between Juillac and Clairvivre, both of which have shops and petrol. Both are approximately 3 miles (5km) from Sanas. Documented local data (maps, etc.) will be in the cottage.

Changeover day
Booking is from Saturday to Saturday. To ensure no conflict, departures are requested to leave by 11h, and arrivals to come not earlier than 15h.
| Bedrooms: | The 1st floor bedroom, in the loft space, has a double bed and accesses the bathroom via mezzanine. The ground floor bedroom has two single beds and is adjacent to the shower room. There is electric heating in both bedrooms. |
| Bathrooms: | Shower, wc and basin on the ground floor and bathroom and wc and basin on the first floor. There is electric heating in the bathroom. |
| Kitchen: | The kitchen has a mixed fuel cooker (bottled gas and electricity), a fridge with freezer and ironing equipment. |
| Living Rooms: | The ground floor has a large living room with equipped kitchen and dining areas, and it opens onto a large terrace on the sunny side of the house. There is a wood burning stove, at the garden end of the ground floor. There is no TV in our cottage. |
| Other: | There is a washing machine and a basin and a wc in the outbuilding. |

Linen, sheets and towels are provided. These items will be changed and the cottage will be cleaned weekly. |

This property is not suitable for people with mobility problems.
Outside
The one acre orchard garden has a view over a valley with horizon about 10 to 15km distant. There is a terrace 2.5 x 7m in area. Outdoor furniture and barbecue available.
Coast/Beach
There is a public swimming pool in Juillac (5km). There is a lake with a sandy beach in Ruffignac (15km) where there is also a bar and a restaurant.
Travel
By air to Limoges, Bergerac (Brive also in 2010) by Ryanair/FlyBe and then 1,5h by car.
By car approximately 500 miles from Boulogne/Calais (8 hours).
Distances
Juillac 5km, Clairevivre 5km, Pompadour 15km, Brive 30km. Massive Central (2 hours by car) for walking, climbing, skiing, the river Dordogne (2 hours by car) for canoeing. Historic Bastide towns at from 40 to 70km distance.
Further details
Because there is hilly but not much traffic one can cycle and walk anywhere. Horse riding at Tireloubie (3km) and Pompadour (15km). Sightseeing and big shopping in Brive (30km). The nearest bank and the chemist can be found in Juillac (5km).

Reservation to be made 2 months or more in advance with a 1 week non refundable deposit payable in the UK. To be paid upon confirmation of acceptance. Nevertheless in the case you want to come here 'next week' (last minute) please contact us and if we have a vacancy we will be happy to book you.

About the owner
I (Allan ) gave up my structural design consultancy in the UK in 1993 in order to try my hand at practising what I had been preaching ! The result is in Sanas and I am now working on two more houses , both in the Dordogne . One I live in , the other is a site . The work has given me plenty of "fun" experiences ( some headaches too ! ) and I will be happy to discuss them with any visitors who so wish it .
