Recently refurbished semi-detached stone french house with private pool and pretty garden in tiny hamlet. Its a short walk to the main village which has butcher, baker, cafe, restaurant and little supermarket. We have lots of kids kit if you need it- high chair, baby bath, bath seat and pushchair. 2 x Cots, 1 x toddler bed plus plenty of kids plates, bowls and cups. Outside sunny south facing garden with fruit tress and a lovely view of the village. Fenced off pool area. Pool has semi enclosed shallow end, perfect for small children. BBQ and large table with chairs for outside eating. Area by the south facing pool for sunbathing and plenty of shade under the trees for when the sun gets too hot.

Changeover day
Sunday but some flex might be available on individual basis. Need to be out at 10am and please do not arrive before 4pm.

Notes on accommodation
We have a 7 and 4 year old boys so a fence round the pool is a must. We also have a high chair, cot, additional toddler bed and plenty of kids cutlery, plates and cups. The TV picks up a limited selection of UK channels.
Accessibility
Not suitable if you have mobility problems. All bedrooms upstairs.
Outside
Patio at front of house. Outdoor furniture for 8.
Fenced off pool area. Pool has semi enclosed shallow end, perfect for small children. Not sure of exact size of pool but guess its about 4m x 8m.
Coast/Beach
The river beach at Aubeterre is 5 mins drive away. There is also canoeing on the river which is great fun. There are also a great beaches at the lakes of Jermaye and Brossac. Atlantic coast is 2hr 30mins away.
Golf
9 hole golf course at le Manoir du Longeveau (10 minutes drive), 18 holes at Golf de Périgueux & Golf de l'Hirondelle, Angoulême (35 minutes).
Special interest holidays
We are between Cognac, St Emillion and Bergerac for those that love their wine.
Travel
There are a number of local airports served by low cost airlines: Bergerac 50 minutes (Ryan Air) Bordeaux 1h 45 minutes (BA & Easyjet) La Rochelle 2h15 minutes (Ryan Air) Limoges 2h 20 minutes (Ryan Air). Rail Brive 2h 30 minutes (Metro Rail) Angloueme 40 minutes (TGV). Calais 8-9 hrs Le Havre 6-7 hrs (LD lines). Postcode is 16390, village is St Severin if you want to look on Google Maps.
Distances
St Emillion is 50 mins away and Bergerac the same.

Guest comments
We had a great couple of weeks at the house! We loved the lake at Le Jemaye and went there a few times. Dinners at Aubeterre and also the restaurant "La Coquilicot" (a bit in the middle of nowhere turning left out past the mini-golf outside St Severin). Kids were very happy out there, and therefore we were!
Our photos are on Facebook and we've already had 3 sets of couples ask us for the details with the view to booking it up next year - it really was lovely and we'd like to get back there before kids get to school age.

We are a young family and all love going to France on Holiday, the boys are forever in the garden or pool whilst my wife and I spend our time eating, drinking coffee or having a glass of rose as the sun sets.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We wanted a place we could have stress free family holidays, where the food would be great and we could fly for the weekend or drive if we were staying longer. We picked this place because its in the Perigord, the gastronomic heart of france, its about the closest place with a significantly better climate and its such a relaxing place.
Unique benefits of the property
The massive kitchen is at the center of the house, cool in summer and warm in the winter in front of the wood burner.
We have kept a French feel but dispensed with some of the chintz and dark interiors that can characterize some other properties in this area.
