Perfect base from which to explore all that this little known area has to offer, or to simply relax in the gardens enjoying the stunning mountain views. Activities for all seasons - the surfing resorts of Biarritz and St Jean de Luz are an hour's drive away, or there is winter skiing from 45 minutes away at the resorts of la Pierre St Martin, Gourette and Cauterets. The area is used for the Tour de France, perfect for cyclists, and there are fantastic local walks from easy to advanced. Excellent rafting, canoeing, fishing and fabulous bird watching.
There are fantastic gorges and caves to explore, either at a relaxed level, with access for disabled, or advanced, with full climbing gear supplied, within 25 minutes. Local quad biking and 4x4 rental with trails, ariel woodland adventure centre.
Daily bakery van for fresh bread and pastries, local restaurant 1/2km away. The nearest town of Mauleon Licharre is 10 minutes drive away offering 3 supermarkets, all shops and amenities.

Saturday changeover day, arrival after 3pm departure by 10am please.

Notes on accommodation
Complimentary welcome hamper for your first morning including bread, jam, milk, tea, coffee, etc. Gas central heating with on demand hot water, wood fired burner in the open plan living area. Child friendly with stair gates and fire guard. We live next door, so we are on hand for any advice and assistance!

Grass area with large patio and barbecue facilities. Outdoor dining furniture, hammock and sun loungers. Above ground plunge pool, 3 metres diameter, 1 metre deep covered by a shade.

Salies de Bearn 35 minute drive, 12 hole driving range. Pau 50 minute drive, 18 hole.
Skiing
Closest ski resort La Pierre St Martin is 45 mins away, providing 20 runs (1 black, 6 red, 9 blue and 4 green). Daily ski school. Alpine Skiing.
Cross country skiing available as well.
Travel
Airports: 65km Pau Pyrenees, 110km Biarritz. Car hire essential.

Guest comments
We stayed here this summer ( 2010). We were amazed at the light airy feeling and the quality of finish of the renovation. The photos do not do it justice.
Having the owners next door was great, as they accompanied us to the local fete and were on hand to advise on what to do.
I would have no hesitation on recommending this house for any one looking for a beautiful house in a small village with a varied , beautiful landscape right on the doorstep.

We had a great time, special thanks to Richard and Pauline for all the help (and barbeque and guitar jam session).
Much higher standard of fittings, (eg decent pans and knives) than we usually find in rental homes.
The visit to La Verna cave which Richard suggested was out of this world. It is 5 times the size of St Pauls cathedral, the 10th biggest cave in the world, and is only 30 mins from house.
We will be back next year as we are addicted to the local cheese.
