We've had a fun week here! Hot, 46 degrees! Have enjoyed swimming in the river and catching fish. Visited lots of castles, went climbing and eaten loads. The food here is fantastic, the hot weather and eating outdoors seems to bring out all the flavours. The cookbooks have been great reading. We loved Lagrasse. The windy cobbled streets are perfect for exploring - not too touristy like Carcassonne. Today there was a brass band in the market square, a very french group of musicians, quirky and fascinating to watch.
Overall a great place to stay! Many thanks!! Mathew, Melanie, Charlotte and Robert Gadd, Epsom, Surrey.
We've had a wonderful week here. The swimming was great and the trout are huge! We took the Cathar trail and couldn't believe where people build castles, truly amazing! This is a lovely area, so relaxing and peaceful. Thank you for allowing others to share this wonderful gite! James Bricknall and family, Melbourne.
Your house is a delight. Prof. Roger Teichmann, Oxfo

Owner profile

About the owner
We have had a home in France for twenty years now, first in the Vendee and then our search for somewhere near the Mediterranean unspoilt by development and tourism brought us to the beautiful hills of the Corbieres. We are surrounded by wild country, delightful villages and wine Chateaux, in a lovely area steeped in Cathar history. As artists/artisans we have really enjoyed transforming what was an empty, old farmhouse into a comfortable, light and rather lovely home that we visit several times a year with our four children.

Year purchased: 2000

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We love the fact that when we are at our house we are surrounded by nature and opposite the house is the most beautiful chapel which by many accounts the crusaders would stop at to worship.

Unique benefits of the property
We love to swim in the nearby river, spend days at the beach and visit the many fascinating places in the region. We sometimes pop to Spain for lunch and visit historic Girona, with its beautiful historic centre. Barcelona is also only three hours away. You can also stroll in the hills behind our house, whilst absorbing the intoxicating smells of the the wild herbs.
