Lavande Maison is an established family home which is now being offered for holiday rental for the first time. A beautiful charentaise house for that well deserved get away from it all break, set in a small hamlet where time has stood still. With softly undulating landscapes and farmland surrounding it, Lavande Maison stands in one and a half acres of parkland gardens with panoramic views. The house is south facing and is ideal for a family or friends sharing. Furnished in keeping with the style of the house, being light airy and spacious. There is lighting outside for alfresco dining. A local seasonal welcome packs awaits your arrival.

Changeover day
Saturday changeover. Arrive 4pm. Depart 10am.

| Kitchen: | Traditional French kitchen with cooker, fridge with small freezer section, microwave, toaster, kettle, dishwasher, door leading to conservatory with table and chairs for breakfast in the sun. |
| Utility Room: | Washing machine and tumble dryer and basin for hand washing. |
| Living Rooms: | Lounge 1 leading from the entrance hall has a large leather sofa and chairs, formal dining table and chairs, drinks cabinet, English satellite television, open fire place. Lounge 2 has 2 large chairs a desk and bureau and French TV. |
| Cleaning/towels/ linen/maid service: |
Clean towels and linen are supplied for the week and are changed every Saturday. |
Notes on accommodation
Lavande Maison is around 200 years old and the current owner is only the third owner of the property! Up until now, it has been used as a family home. It lends itself especially to large families or friends sharing as the accommodation is very flexible with separate staircases to each bedroom wing. The light and airy rooms have a relaxing atmosphere and the secluded aspect makes you really feel as though this is your own secret hideaway in France! From Lavande Maison you can take the opportunity to sample the beautiful French countryside and local way of life.

Accessibility
Although the house is very large, the outside access is good. There are wide entrance gates and a flat patio area which runs the length of the house. Bedrooms are only accessible by stairs but a single bed could be arranged on the ground floor if requested, where there is also easy access to the second bathroom.
Outside
Approx 1½ acres of parkland with BBQ area and patio leading from the conservatory. The BBQ is a chiminie type. There are shaded spots and hammocks in the garden to escape from the hot Charentaise sun. There is outside lighting and a table and chairs. The garden has large gates and is completely fenced and walled making it a safe haven for children to play. Garden games and balls will be provided.
Coast/Beach
5 mins from the house is a summer pool set in the woods especially for children (July /Aug) with lifeguards and small cafe. 15 mins will take you to two larger lakes for safe, clean swimming and picnicking, cafes and bars. La Rochelle and Royan are the two closest beaches being one and half hours drive. La Rochelle is a pretty fishing port with many seafood restaurants. Towards the coast you will see the cognac vines and be able to stop and purchase cognac or pineau cognac.
Special interest holidays
There are many places of interest all around the area and plenty of chateaux to discover. Nearby Chasseneuil-sur-Bonnieure was the headquarters for the resistance and you can see the famous memorial as you approach the town. There is a small museum for the resistance, adjoining the tourist office.
Horse riding can be arranged on request with horses suitable for all levels of experience, and tuition in English or French for little ones if required. Good hacking country in surrounding forest and lakeside (hacks must be accompanied for insurance purposes). Trips by horse and carriage can be taken nearby.

Travel
Limoges airport 35 mins. Angouleme/Cognac 45-50 mins. Bordeaux and La Rochelle 1½ - 2 hours. Ports - St Malo/Caen 6 or 7 hours drive. Roscoff 6 or 7 hours drive. Paris 6 hours (for Disneyland).
A car is recommended due to the location of the house. All airports offer a taxi service and there are taxis in Chasseneul if you really want to get away from it all and leave the car behind but we strongly recommend a car.
Distances
Although the house is in a very private location and situated in a small hamlet, the main town of Chasseneuil is only a 5 minute drive. Hosting shops and supermarkets for everyday needs as well as florists, hairdressers, boutiques and local produce. On the 22nd of every month a large country market takes place.
A 15 minute drive gives you a choice of small towns including the beautiful chateaux town of La Rochefoucauld which has 2 particularly high quality restaurants.

Chateaunuiell is 10 minutes away - the beautiful chateau boasting a family run restaurant in the grounds and an antique centre set in lovely wooded surroundings.
Booking notes
We ask for 200 deposit to reserve your holiday. Your final payment is then due 8 weeks before your holiday. We also ask for a £200 security deposit which is refundable after your holiday. Please see our website for full details of how to book.
