Located with a pretty south-facing farmhouse ,we have two different cottages to rent. Both the cottages retain a traditional, rustic French ambience. Idyllically situated in the countryside of ‘Perigord Vert’, with its sleepy villages, medieval and roman architecture, excellent food and wine. Located on a hillside with breathtaking views over sunflower or maize fields, the property is set in 2.7 acres of delightful, secluded gardens with fruit and nut trees, spring flowers and numerous tubs of flowers, there is also a brand new large pool ,complying with current safety legislation, set in a lovely area, with a small children’s play area, including a large splash pool and swings/slides.

Bluebell Cottage (2 Bedrooms, Sleeps 4)

Bluebell cottage is situated at right angles to our large barn and is on two levels. It consists of an open plan Lounge/Dining area and Kitchen – with sofa and comfortable chairs, dining table and welsh dresser. The kitchen area is fully equipped with new gas cooker, fridge and microwave and coffee maker and all the utensils,crockery,cutlery and dishes etc.TV ,CD player and DVD player. A washing machine and freezer are available to use Bathroom - Toilet, sink and Shower with small annexe for the hot water boiler. Bedroom 1 - Bunk Beds with wardrobe and chest drawers. First Floor: 1 Large double room with double bed – split with a large beam to give a seating area with two comforable armchairs and small table giving an opportunity to relax and enjoy our fantastic open views.There is a wardrobe and small corner unit. |

Accessibility
Sunflower cottage is on one level and could be used for a person or people with disability problems or who might use a wheelchair.
Outside
The property is located in approx 2.7 acres of beautiful gardens overlooking a valley with breathtaking views(there is a national viewing spot approx 1 mile away).
Both the cottages share the use a large outdoor pool (10 x 6m) named a "double bubble" and has a constant depth of approx 1.6 metres,ideal for smallish children with the knowledge that they cannot get out of their depth.The pool and its surrounding safety fence with gate conforms to all current French law.There are swings and slides etc with a smalll splash pool for the very young in this particular part of the garden.
Both cottages have a patio area including all garden furniture including private bbq.
All of the 2.7 acres are at the disposal of guests to wander around and share in the tranquility of Petit Vos.
One item of interest is the mound of earth,dug from the barn floor,upon which is a wooden bench where our guests sit and drink a glass of the fabled French wine and watch the sun go down!
Coast/Beach
The atlantic beaches are approx 2 hours drive away - 90 kilometre - and are mile upon mile of golden sandy beaches. The principal towns of this part of the region are La Rochelle,Royan and Rochefort and they are all served by dozens of cafes and restaurants serving local sea food or traditional French cuisine.
Golf
There is a sport complex tennis and a 9 hole golf approx 25 minutes distance and Perigueux boasts a superb 18 hole public golf course approx 45 minutes.
Travel
Bergerac airport 1 hour, Angouleme airport 1 hour ,Limoges airport 1 hour 30 minutes and Bordeaux airport 1 hour 30 minutes distance.A car is essential to get here and to sight see and of course is handy to take back a few duty free bottles!
Distances
Situated between Angoulême (45 mins) and Périgueux (45 mins), giving easy access to the pretty traditional villages on the River Dronne – Aubeterre-sur-Dronne (15 mins), Brantôme (30 mins) and Bourdeilles (30 mins), all perfect for bathing, canoeing or just exploring at your leisure. Also, the renowned market town of Riberac (20 mins) with its Friday market (and evening markets in July/Aug) being a definite must. Sarlat, Laucaux, Cognac, the Atlantic Beaches and Bordeaux, also make excellent day
Further details
The local village of Champagne is where our guests buy their everyday baguette or croissant in the boulangerie and it also has a wonderful old French bar(a must)where differing cultures meet and a small alimentation(local Spar) and a hairdressers.The nearest small town is Verteillac 8 kilometre where there is a bank,boulangerie,post office,general store,bars and a hotel with a restaurant.Also doctors and dentist.
Riberac is the nearest big town with everything-banks,4 supermarkets,cafes,shops,restaurants,doctors etc and not forgetting the canoeing.If markets are your forte then Riberac has one the best.
Villebois Lavellette is in the Charente 8 kilometre, a small market town with a good supermarket.
There are numerous villages and towns nearby that have their fetes and celebrations during late July and August.
Brantome is a very picturesque small town,called the little Venice of the Perigord Vert,due to its river and the many canoeing opportunities that are available.
Perigueux,the principal town,is really worth a days visit - Wednesday is market day spread around the old town and in the grounds of the magnificent cathredal-the town is festooned with flowers and to visit the main square in the old town to have lunch is an experience not to be missed.Lots and lots of shops for the lady of the family!
Angouleme,principal town of the Charente,is really fascinating and very old.The nearest T.G.V station is here.
Petit Vos itself is served by 3 good restaurants all within 10 minutes and numerous other eating facilities after a small drive.
Booking notes
Prices include fuel (in high season only) and linen. Towels are provided for indoor use only. A cot can be provided subject to availability – please advise at time of booking.
A deposit of 25% is requested on booking with the remainder sent 8 weeks before arrival. All monies can be transacted by electronic transfer or a cheque to me at Petit Vos. A returnable damage/cleaning deposit of £100 is also requested 8 weeks before arrival, being returned on departure.
