Beautifully refurbished two bedroom apartment in the centre of Les Contamines. Close to all amenities, Tourist Info and 5 min bus ride to the cable car. The all year round village of Les Contamines provides something for everyone, from fantastic skiing (it holds the snow) to family fun and entertainment in the Parc du Pontet. It is also on the Tour du Mont Blanc- so hiking and climbing opportunities are endless. We have refurbished our apartment to a high standard and everything you need for a great holiday is provided.

Changeover day
Change over day is Saturday. Arrivals from 3pm onwards. Apartment must be vacated by 10am on day of departure.

Notes on accommodation
The apartment block has easy access from the rear of the building - and our apartment is on the ground floor. Plenty of parking spaces outside.

18 hole course at Megeve - approx 30 minutes away.
Skiing
Les Contamines-Montjoie/Hauteluce ski area is located at the heart of the Mont Blanc range at an altitude of between 1164 to 2500m. It has 75 miles of downhill runs in the linked Evasion ski area (St Gervais/Megeve); guaranteed quality snow cover (thanks to its 258 snow cannons) and the skiing of your dreams, from the beginning to the end of the season. Its snow record is reliable and as most of the slopes are above 1800m and face north and north-east, they retain the snow when other nearby resorts are suffering.
Special interest holidays
Huge range of activities in Summer; Hiking & trekking in the Val Montjoie -more than 120km of tracks are marked out. The village is on the Tour du Mont Blanc (GR5) one of the most spectacular walks ever! Paragliding, horse-riding, canyoning, hydrospeed, rafting, nature reserves, swimming, mountain cable cars, trains, horse sleigh rides - all on offer in the area. The village is perfectly situated to access Mont Blanc via the Conscrits hut. Via Ferrata is about 30 mins away and some good climbing crags at La Duchere - 10 mins from the village. The Pontet Leisure Park is 10 mins away; rowing boats,walks, cable cars, archery, trampoline, tennis, high ropes course, horse riding - and you can even mush the huskies! Perfect year round village.

Nearest airport is Geneva - about 75 mins drive
Les Contamines is approx 550miles (880km) from Calais & the Channel Tunnel – It is auto-route all the way & the roads are really good. It takes about 7 - 8 hours & the auto-route tolls cost up to £90 return for a car (price correct Dec 2008).

Further details
Les Contamines has several small supermarkets, bakeries, butchers and tabac. There is a bank with an ATM. Market day is Tuesday. Plenty of choice for restaurants and bars. Ski rental and outdoor equipment shops and an ice rink in the middle of the village in winter which becomes a boules are in the summer. The Parc du Pontet (5 mins drive out of the village) has everything from tree top rope courses, tennis courts, golf driving range, bathing lake, rock climbing area, horse-riding and the chance to ‘mush’ huskies!

A deposit of 25% confirms your booking, or the full rental is payable if less than 6 weeks prior to the start of the holiday. We charge a £250 fully refundable security deposit which will be returned after the holiday provided everything is left in good order. On contact we can provide our Terms & Conditions.

About the owner
Phil and I live and work in England for the majority of the year with our mad dog (Irish Red & White Setter). We launched a new business called Alpine Oasis (www.alpine-oasis.com) about a year ago - which is based out of Les Contamines and specialises in activity and adventure - summer and winter in and around Les Contamines. We're hoping that at some stage this business will mean that we can realise our dream and live in Les Contamines year round!

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
We love the village, the people, the mountains and all that the area has to offer. There is something to do all year round, for everyone. The village is at the head of the valley and therefore the ski area plus all the hiking trails, the rock climbing and great mountain biking areas are all on the doorstep...as are the full amenities of a real french village; fabulous boulangeries, good restaurants, local markets and coffee shops.
We're just over an hour from Geneva - but there is a delightful remote feeling to the place. The village which has managed to retain its french authenticity, and is nestled at the foot of the Mont Blanc Massif - so you can ski, hike, bike and relax all year round!

There's pretty much everything you need for a good holiday - good fully equipped kitchen,DVD, music centre and a decked balcony with wooden chairs for enjoying watching the sun going down - or checking on the local activity in the village square!
Everything is on your doorstep - and the Tourist Info office is across the road.
