Bedrooms: The house has five large bedrooms with room for cots in each:

Bathrooms: There are two shower rooms, plus a shower in the en-suite, each with washbasin, toilet and shower; one of these being on the ground floor. There is also a separate toilet on the ground floor.
Kitchen: The fitted kitchen is very well equipped; it has a brand new 4 oven stainless steel range cooker, microwave, dishwasher and fridge freezer, kettle, toaster. A wide archway separates it from the dining area with farmhouse tables seating 15.
Utility Room: Very large utility; washing machine,large sink, extra fridge and fridge freezer; plenty of work surface + storage; shower room + toilet, additional separate toilet.
Living Rooms: Lounge; seating for 12+, 40'' LCD TV, Sky, DVD/videos; music system, games, books. Double bed settee.
Other: Spacious porch, originally a dining room for specialist tile workers. Large table tennis room and large pool table in another large room alongside it. Cool during hot weather

No additional charge is made if the property is left clean and tidy. Our cleaners check the house thoroughly at every changeover. Linen and towels are available for hire (linen £7 per single set; £10 for dbl £12 super king set. £4 per set 1 hand 1 bath).

Notes on accommodation
A very spacious house, ideal for groups such as families and friends. Plenty of room for everyone to help in the kitchen.
Interior remains cool during the summer, ideal for those siestas and for playing indoors during the hottest part of the day.

Accessibility
The house has been successfully used by folk in wheelchairs on numerous occasions. Large bedroom, shower and toilet facilities on the ground floor. Some narrow doorways.

Secure private 10x5m heated pool (minimum28 degrees); heated beg. May end September, walled and gated from garden and gated from the house; roofed terrace for shade one side of the pool, decking on the other for sun worshippers! Sun loungers; range of outdoor tables + chairs; large BBQ with chimney on patio area between the kitchen and the gated pool; 3/4 acre grassy enclosed garden + parking; boules court; goal posts.

From the north west of France, follow signs for Nantes; take the A83 [signposted Bordeaux].
If flying into Nantes airport, follow the signs for A83, turning right as you exit the airport.
Exit Junction 7 at St Hermine. [very good autoroute cafe and shops just before this exit.

Distances
Hermenault is 3 km. This village has a supermarket, boulangerie, Post Office, banks, chemist shop (English spoken), doctors and dentist, public swimming pool, tennis courts and sports hall. The popular supermarkets Le Clerc and HyperU located in Fontenay.
La Cousotte, the local bar in St. Martin, 5 minutes walk. [pizzas and simple meals served.

Les Garnes is ideal for holidaymakers who enjoy day trips to places of interest on and around the Atlantic coast, yet it is just far enough from those main tourist areas to be totally tranquil; the pattern of French rural life soon envelops holidaymakers here. From the Atlantic Coast to the Vendée Bocage, through the Poitevin marshland. The Vendée now has some 800km-worth of cycle paths – which will eventually be extended to a thousand km of safe, waymarked trails. There are three circuits in the Vendée: the coastal circuit (180 km), passing through nature spots (dunes, woodland and marshland) and accessing all of the coastal communities; the Poitevin marshland circuit (140 km), setting off from the Aiguillon Bay and crossing the main marsh channels, up to Maillezais Abbey and on to Mervent-Vouvant Forest, and last but not least the Bocage circuit (over 470 km), along which you can complete a loop more than 275 km long through farmland, past such remarkable sites as the Puy du Fou®, Historial, Logis de la Chabotterie and Château de Tiffauges.

About the owner
We are a retired couple, living in North Wales but spending half the year in the sunny Vendee maintaining and servicing our gites, gardens and heated pools (not a bad life!). Our properties are totally private within their own private gardens with private heated pools; they are not on shared sites but a few kilometres apart. There are no owners on site but each property is within 20 minutes drive from where we stay whilst in France. All the facilities at each property are for the sole use of our guests too - nothing is shared. We have more than 20 years experience to draw on and can advise you personally about travel, places to go and things to do. If you come over with just immediate family for company, with friends or as an extended family, please consider one of our lovely properties.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We purchased our first property, Les Garnes, over 20 years ago and the business developed as more and more family, friends and friends of friends started to come over to stay. So we bought our second property Les Moullieres as a smaller retreat but folk still found us! We chose the area because of the Mediterranean like climate and its relative proximity to the ferry ports [3 hours from St Malo] and the west coast beaches [45 minutes drive]. We are situated away from tourist hotspots but are close enough to enjoy all the tourist attractions - perfect! The properties are rural but not isolated and facilities such as shops, banks, doctors and dentist and restaurants are within easy reach.

Unique benefits of the property
We do not live on-site; nothing is shared; everything is very private. We offer rural seclusion without isolation; modern facilities within traditional settings. The kitchens are very well equipped, for the keen cooks, with a dishwasher, of course. Les Garnes and Les Moullieres have large private gardens with big BBQs, secure heated pools [10x5m - 33 ft long] and a choice of patios. There is a pool table and table tennis in each. Les Moullieres also has a full size snooker table.
