The cottage has been renovated throughout, keeping all its charm and character with stone walls and original oak beams. Comfortable and spacious with French doors leading onto your own private patios, set in the 2 acre garden, swim or relax in the gorgeous pool area, surrounded by lush green countryside. Le Vieux Cerier is a little hamlet with a church and bar, 5 minutes drive from the quiet village of Champagne Mouton, where you will find all the essentials you will need. We are also only a 25 minute drive from Ruffec and Confolens, both being pretty towns with a full range of shops, bars and restaurants. Condac, on the Charente River is also only a 20 minute drive, where you can swim, canoe, picnic BBQ or just relax.

Changeover day
Changeover day. Saturday in high season, can be negotiable at other times, arrival 4pm and departure no later than 10am.

2 sets of French doors lead onto your own private patios with patio furniture and BBQ.The pool is fully enclosed with sun loungers, towels and parasols, the pool is shared with the friendly non-intrusive resident owners. We have bicycles for your use together with boules, badminton and access to a full size tennis court 10 minutes drive away.
Coast/Beach
Royan is approximately 1.5 hours drive or La Rochelle is about 2 hours for the coast. The Charente lakes with their beaches are within 1/2 an hours drive.
Travel
Ryanair fly from Liverpool, East Midlands, Southampton and Stansted to Limoges which is about 1 hours drive. They also fly from Stansted to Angouleme 40 mins, Poitiers 1 hour, La Rochelle 2 hours. BMI Baby fly from Manchester and East Midlands to Bordeaux and British Airways from Gatwick to Bordeaux, which is about 1 hour 45 mins. There is also the TGV from Paris to Angouleme and Ruffec which takes 2 - 2.5 hours. The closest ferry ports are St Malo and Caen both about 4.5 hours away.
Distances
Champagne Mouton is a 5 minute drive away. The picturesque villages of Nanteuil en Vallee and Verteuil sur Charente are both a 15 minutes drive away. Condac which is on the River Charente with swimming and canoeing is a 20 minute drive. Confolens, where the famous music festival is held is about 1/2 an hour away and Angouleme with its ramparts and winding medieval streets, great shops, bars and restaurants is 40 minutes. Cognac is around 1 hour and the lakes of Haute Charente about 30 minutes.
Further details
Champagne Mouton has a bank, post office, supermarket, petrol station, pharmacy and various other shops, a hotel, restaurant and bar, the village also has a small market on Tuesdays and Fridays. Nanteuil has 2 very good restaurants and Verteuil has a very good one. The village of Condac has a fabulous restaurant, which used to be a mill, overlooking the River Charente. The restaurant has an amazing terrace which is open in the summer with great views to go with the great food served here, there is also a disco next door which opens at the weekend. Confolens is a very pretty medieval town which sits on the banks of the River Vienne. It also hosts a music festival in August, where you can experience all kinds of music and dancing from all over the world. Angouleme is a great place to visit with its vast array of bars and superb restaurants, its historic buildings and its fabulous shopping. There are also tours around the distilleries in Cognac, Futurescope at Poitiers, Vallee de Singes, golf and nautical activities at the lakes All in all there is really something in this part of France to suit everyone. All the towns in the chosen photographs are within an easy 30 mins drive from the property.

This Poitou charentes best kept secret. We had a lovely holiday here and we would definately come back. The gite is beautiful and very comfortable (especially the bed). The location is marvellous and the owners are lovely, we couldn't have asked for more. Mick and Vickie Nottingham.
