Guest comments
A lovely peaceful hideaway with lots of space, great facilities and close to shops and restaurants. We loved the newly opened restaurant Harvey's just 5 mins walk up the road. Great food and they do wine tastings which we enjoyed to the full as no-one had to drive. Pete Grantham May 2010.
A great place for a family holiday We loved the quiet gardens and the splash pool that was very welcome in the hot weather. The house is very comfortable and relaxing and has lots of character. The area was also very convenient for wine tours and the really beauiful town of St Emilion was only 20 mins away. Sue and Elaine B. August 2010.
The best equipped house we have ever rented in the Dordogne, very comfortable and well maintained; we loved everything about it. J&D April 2011
A beautiful well kept home in a lovely quiet location. We loved everything about it including the large splash pool overlooking the Vineyards. This is our 3rd visit and we plan to be back in 2012. K&N. Sept11.

Owner profile
About the owner
I am married with 2 grown up children and live near Preston in Lancashire. I have worked in the public sector for 39 years and work in project management. I enjoy good food and wine and like to travel in Europe and the USA.
Year purchased: 2003
Why the owner chose a home in this location
I have loved everything French since touring France in the early 80s and have spent holidays in the country every year since then. This part of the Dordogne is particularly attractive to us as it is close to lots of countryside with pretty villages and towns to explore and is within easy distance from every type of shop and many Restaurants.
Nevertheless, Maison Soleil is on a quiet country lane with only passing local traffic and runs down to a cul-de-sac near the River Dordogne half a mile away. The gardens are secluded and tranquil and overlook adjacent fields and vineyards and the whole area is very pleasant. Gentle back roads suitable for cycling run down to a small village and cafes on the river.
Unique benefits of the property
We have lovingly restored the house since we bought it in 2003 and it has had lashings of TLC since then. I hope this shows through in the attention to detail and level of comfort it now provides and that those who stay in our French home will enjoy it as much as we do.
Everyone comments on how comfortable the house is overall - especially the beds!
Maison Soleil has plenty of space for 1 or 2 families or for just a few people who want to spread out. We have added mobile air-conditioning units for when it is hot as well as good heating and a really great log burning stove for the cooler months. There is plenty to do with or without children both in the house and in the surrounding area. You can also watch UK TV (Sky freeview) or a selection of DVDs if the sun decides to have a day off.
