The farmhouse is set in 7 acres of meadows and woodland and is the perfect choice for those seeking peace and tranquility. The 10m by 5m swimming pool is for the exclusive use of guests and is completely private. It is situated in the south facing back garden, well placed to enjoy sun all day whilst relaxing in the peaceful surroundings with plenty of outside eating areas, in sun or in shade. There is a large lawn area and neighbouring meadow and woods to explore. At the front of the farmhouse there are ample shady spots to park several cars. This is an ideal location for those who enjoy nature in unspoilt surroundings. You can play football in the garden, read in the shade or sit under the parasols with a drink overlooking the pool. There is a rich variety of flora and fauna - many different birds, toads, salamanders, lizards, wild deer and rabbits. The Sweet Chestnut tree has a resident Green Woodpecker, and the Blue tits nest in the dry stone wall by the outdoor dining table.

The price per week is for a maximum of 8 people. An extra £18 per person per week will be charged for any occupation above 8.

Saturday changeover day May to August, flexible at other times. Arrival 4pm earliest. Departure 10am latest.

Bedrooms: The master bedroom (30sq.m) is a lovely dual aspect room with super king size bed and a magnificent open fireplace.
Bedroom 2 (30sq.m) has twin beds and is also dual aspect.
Bedroom 3 has a double bed and a single bed.
Bedroom 4 has 4 single beds.
Bathrooms: The main bathroom has been recently refitted to include a modern white bathroom suite, comprising a bath with shower head, wc, basin and a powerful walk-in shower.
The second modern bathroom includes a white bathroom suite and a shower over the bath.
Kitchen: The large traditional farmhouse kitchen is a perfect area to unwind during a long French lunch. Traditional features include a vast open fireplace with wood burning stove and exposed beamed walls and ceiling. The dining room table seats up to 12.
Living Rooms: The main living room is some 30sq.m but retains a cosy feel with a wood burning stove. It is a lovely cool room in summer but very warm and comfortable in winter. It has a large 42" TV for viewing British television if you fancy a night in.
Cleaning/towels/
linen/maid service:
Bedlinen and towels (not for pool) are provided and changed once a week. The house will be clean on arrival but price does not include cleaning during your stay. Please bring your own pool towels.

Notes on accommodation
The farmhouse is suitable for children and elderly alike. It is a rural property with uneven ground and steps however, and special care must be taken if you are infirm.

Accessibility
The property has not been specially adapted for the wheelchair user but several previous guests have been accommodated. Please contact me and I can give you more information.

Outside
Large patio areas with sun loungers (4) and cushions. Plenty of garden chairs. Outdoor dining for 10. Barbecue. Private grounds and 10m x 5m swimming pool.
The formal gardens comprise about 2 acres. The farmhouse is set within another 5 acres of meadowland surrounded by trees to form a natural border.
It is completely private with no "near" neighbours.
No staff/owners on-site although we do have the gardens and pool maintained once a week.

Coast/Beach
2-3 hours Arcachon/Bordeaux.

Travel
Calais approx 6 hours drive - all but 50 minutes is motorway.
Limoges airport (Ryanair or Flybe) about 40 minutes drive. Car hire is available at the airport. A car is essential.

Distances
La Coquille 5kms. Chalus 5kms. Limoges 30kms. Perigueux 40kms. Brantome 25kms. Thiviers 18kms.

Further details
Local shops are easily located in the main towns 5 minutes drive away. Local boulangerie 2kms at Firbeix. Restaurants again in the local towns and villages 5-10 minutes drive.

20% non-refundable deposit to secure the booking. £200 returnable security deposit payable with full balance 8 weeks prior to arrival date.

"We are going back for the 3rd time this summer. Fab pool. Great log fire place both in kitchen and living room. Place is massive so would be great for large families. Kitchen equipment is modern and spotless. Owners are great at communicating by e-mail making the whole booking issue stress less. Davies family, August 2008.

The farmhouse is in a beautiful peaceful location but with the added benefit of being close to villages for all amenities, and within walking distance of a small but perfectly formed hamlet with a superb children's playground. The grounds around the farmhouse are great for children to play in and the pool and it's immediate surroundings are great. The master bedroom is stunning. If there are more than 2 adults staying you will be fighting for this room as the other bedrooms don't really come close in terms of style! House was clean and beautifully maintained. Why the owner chose a home in this location
We bought in the Perigord Vert because it is a beautiful part of France and not really affected by tourism. English is not as widely spoken in the area which makes it more 'authentically French'. It has such easy access - only 40 minutes of non-motorway driving from Calais. It is in the heart of the countryside, secluded but not isolated. Supermarkets are within 5kms either direction.

Unique benefits of the property
When we rent a property for a holiday we are always concerned that the photos have been taken in such a way as to avoid the pylon, the pig farm, the house overlooking the garden etc. You can be assured with this property that we have no direct neighbours, no surprises, and no owners on site watching what you are up to. What you see is what you get.
