What a lovely cottage, and it has everything (including needle & thread). It's our first time renting a house in France & I doubt if anywhere else could provide so much. Thank you both. M & J., Co.Clare. Eire June 2010
Lovely well equiped cottage. Everything we needed and more. Very peaceful & relaxing in a lovely area. Great holiday. Hope to return another year. L& R.P. Somerset. July 2010
Well! we did return and stayed a month this year! Had a really relaxing time and Lavande was the perfect base to explore all the Vendée has to offer, it allways felt like we were returning to our home in the evening. N&N.M. Dublin Aug 2010
We have holidayed in France for over 30 consecutive years, and this cottage is right at the top of the various places we have stayed. The accomodation, comfort and supplied equipment are excellant. The superb garden, the situation, english TV and the fantastic weather were added and welcome bonuses. What more could we ask for... A&J.C. Somerset Sept 2010

About the owner
My husband and I bought Lavande Cottage, which is a renovated 'Vendéen Long House' in 2002 and used it regularly as a holiday home for us and our children whilst living and working in the UK. In 2006 we had the opportunity to buy a near derelict cottage, barn, Pressoir and garages opposite Lavande Cottage, and in 2007 we decided to develop the property using a local architect and artisans. Late in 2007 when the development was nearing completion, rather than just sell or rent out the new property, we decided that my husband would take early retirement, and we would move permanently to France into the new house, which is what we did early in 2008. With our 3 children all having left home and with both our parents no longer with us, it was a relatively simple thing for us to do.
Year purchased: 2002
Why the owner chose a home in this location
The permanent move to France, with the great weather and a more relaxed way of life, has been something we have not regretted. We decided to keep our original holiday home 'Lavande Cottage', which gave us many years of pleasure, to enable other visitors to come and enjoy the many benefits the cottage and the Vendée Department have to offer.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
