'Mas de Cadignac' is in the heart of the unspoiled Languedoc-Roussillion, where the French go on holiday. The area is full of the sights, sounds, tastes and smells that make up the wonderful ingredients to truly fantastic holiday. Being close to the edge of the Cevennes and some of the greatest French tourist attractions, it's the perfect place to be. The Department of the Gard stretches from the wild and beautiful mountains of the Cevennes across the Rhone valley and sweeps down to the sandy beaches of the Mediterranean Sea, offering opportunities to experience a great variety of scenery and lifestyles. Immensely rich in historical sites dating from pre-Roman times to Roman towns or one of the small, stone-built, medieval villages dotting the hillsides amongst vineyards and fields of sunflowers. The surrounding countryside is enormously varied, bathing in a special quality of light similar to that of Tuscany, and enjoying an average of 320 days of sun a year.

Kitchen: Stylish, luxury fitted kitchen, with granite worktops, that can cater for up to 12 people.
Includes: 2 ovens, 6-ring hob, microwave, dishwasher, 2 fridges, kettle, coffee maker and toaster and all the necessary cooking and serving equipment.
Utility Room: Separate utility area with 2 washing machines, drying facilities, iron and board.
Living Rooms: The heart of the house is the luxurious salon with a stunning French oak staircase, mezzanine, accentuated by a glass banister and gallery and one of the indoor dining areas. Kitchen, caves, games room, gallery and snug are separate but adjoin this room.
Other: Reclining chairs in snug are ideal for reading and enjoying a fire in the fireplace in winter. There’s a games room with a sound system, vintage arcade game and table football. 2 caves, 1 contains the second dining area, and seats 12.

 

Notes on accommodation
There are open fires in several rooms, a TV with DVD player, Broadband access and connections for MP3 players and CD players in most rooms. The games room has table tennis, games and table football.

Outside
There is a 7,500m Mediterranean fenced garden with vines, lavender, olive trees, orchard, a wilderness, a play area, Mediterranean plants and fragrant plantings. The south facing, private terrace gives views over the huge garden, pool and surrounding countryside. The old stone walls of the Mas soak up sun and radiate warmth during the evenings. Both pool and terrace have outdoor furniture for twelve. Choose from one of the dining places in the garden and savour freshly-cooked Mediterranean food from the wood-burning barbecue during long summer evenings. Relax and play in the secluded, heated pool, in water bored from a deep souce, natural well. Set on the brow of a hill, the pool benefits from the famous Mistral and views over terraced vineyards, wooded hills and the valley of the Ceze. The private, 15m by 7m pool, is furnished with a contemporary furniture and loungers for rest and relaxation. Younger children can play and have fun in the Californian Beach shallow area of the pool.

Golf
There are a choice of courses in Ales (about three quarters of an hour), Avignon (about three quarters of an hour), Uzes (about half an hour), and two in Nimes (around an hour).

Travel
Nimes and Avignon airports are around an hour away, Montpellier is about an hour and a quarter, Lyon is about two hours, Grenoble, two and a quarter, and Marseilles an hour and three quarters.

Further details
Just 5 minutes drive is the provincial market town of Bagnols-sur-Ceze. The Wednesday market usually has a vast selection of local produce including cheeses, olives, wine, fruit, vegetables and everything Mediterranean. There are more than 40 restaurants ranging from the highest quality dining to cafes and bars. Cabs are easy to find and reasonably priced. Bagnols benefits from a choice of three supermarkets, numerous bakeries, butchers, banks with ATMs and all the usual amenities.
