Notes on accommodation
There is central heating supplied free of charge. There are shutters inside all windows. The accommodation is suitable for young and old alike but there are some steps to be negotiated outside front door of studio up to the street. The floors are covered with lino so are suitable for people with allergies to dust etc or asthma. There are no carpets. The accommodation is spacious and spotlessly clean.
Accessibility
There are some steps to be negotiated from the street to the front door of the studio apartment, so would not be suitable for wheelchairs.
Outside
There is one balcony with outdoor table and chairs. There is a second balcony off dining area. 15 mins walk away is the community swimming pool. The cost is approximately 3 euros per day.
Coast/Beach
The historic town of Coilloure is a 20 min drive away. The Mediterranean is also 20 mins drive away with its fabulous beaches in Argeles-sur-Mer, Argeles Plage. The beach stretches for miles and would make for a wonderful day out with picnics, sun bathing etc.
Golf
There is a 9 hole golf course in Amelie Les Bains. 20 mins drive away is the spectacular Falgos Golf and Spa resort which has a wonderful 18 Hole golf course. Green fees very reasonable. This resort is up in the mountains so the scenery is breathtaking.
Skiing
There is skiing available approximately 2 hours drive away. Fort Romeu and Les Angles are the name of the resorts.
Travel
Girona - Barcelona airport is 55 mins drive away. Car hire is recommended. Several car hire Companies operate from this airport. Carcassonne airport is approximately 1 hour and 45 mins drive from Amelie Les Bains. Perpignan airport is approximately 20 mins drive away. There is public transport available to Amelie from Perpignan.
Distances
The nearest village is Ceret which has a Supermarche for all your groceries etc. at reasonable prices. Prats De Mollo is a 15 min drive approx and is very historical. En route you can walk in Gorge de la Fou. There is a bus from Amelie which takes you to the Le Jaune Train - the yellow train. This train takes you into the Pyrenees via a suspended bridge with its breathtaking views. Not to be missed. Le Boulou is home to some famous artists work.
Further details
There is a local fruit and veg market every day until 12 md in the market square in town centre. There is also a weekly market on Thurs where they sell clothes, fruit, veg, wine, cheese meat etc. There are some very nice restaurants in Amelie ie. Vietnamese restaurant just as you cross the bridge to go to town centre and it is very reasonably priced. The Casino is just beyond this and you can always go to this bar/restaurant for your afternoon ballroom dancing. The other local bar/restaurant which is full of character is the Cafe De Paris where you can also dance away the afternoon. There is card playing here at night also. There are several banks and ATM machines available throughout the town. Just fifteen mins walk from the apartment is an outdoor pursuits Centre which is reasonably priced and which is suitable for teenagers and younger children. There are no nightclubs or late night bars in this town. It is a very quiet, peaceful town.

About the owner
I live in Ireland with my husband and 3 children and a dog. We bought this property in Amelie in 2006 and have been going back for hols ever since. Amelie is a beautiful unspoilt area at the foot of the Pyrenees. The river Tech flows through the town and there are beautiful walks alongside it.
Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
The ease of access is a big advantage. Just 55 mins drive from Girona airport. 20 mins drive to Argeles Plage beach. 20 mins drive or 1 hour bus drive to Perpignan.
