This recently renovated and restored village house offers spacious accommodation over 3 floors. With 3 double bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and a large living room that opens out onto the garden. This house offers the ideal base for your holiday in the Pyrenees. Situated in the village of Molitg there are restaurants within walking distance and the thermal spa is just 5 minutes down the road. The mountains are on your doorstep and offer an abundance of walks and wildlife. Prades is the local market town with all the facilities you need including 2 large supermarkets. Attractions that are in the local area include the historic town of Villefranche-de Conlflent with its hilltop fort, stunning caves and Little Yellow Train. Vinca is just 8 miles away and has a freshwater swimming lake and beach where many water-based activities can be enjoyed. The Mediterranean beaches are 40 minutes away and include the artist retreat at Colliure and Le Racou, a pretty seaside village with a good sandy beach.

All have hanging or drawer space for clothes storage.
There are 2 extra put-up beds available on request.
Bathrooms: En-suite bathroom to bedroom 1 has a shower, wc and washbasin.
En-suite bathroom to bedroom 2 has a bath with a shower, wc and washbasin.
Ground floor bathroom has a shower, wc and washbasin.
Kitchen: Fitted kitchen with electric oven and ceramic hob, fridge-freezer, microwave and doors opening out onto the garden.
Utility Room: Washing machine, tumble-dryer, space for storage of bikes and skiing equipment. Two fold up beds are also stored in here for use in the bedrooms or lounge to sleep 2 further children.
Living Rooms: Open plan lounge and dining area, with large screen TV and UK Freeview TV channels, DVD player with selection of DVDs. There is a dining table which extends to seat up to 10 people. Indoor chairs for 6, with extra seating available from the garden.

Lovely secluded garden with patio, outdoor dining area with table and chairs and a barbecue. There are 2 adult bikes available for you to use upon request.

Coast/Beach
It is a 40 minutes drive to mediterranean beaches including Argeles and Colliure. There is a freshwater swimming lake and beach at Vinca - just 15 mins drive away. Here there are water sports on offer. White water rafting is also available on the other side of the valley. There is an open air public swimming pool in Prades.

Golf
There are several golf courses in the area, the closest is at St Cyprien, a 40 min drive away.

Skiing
Font Romeu and Les Ingles are the nearest ski areas, both are 45 - 60 mins drive away. They provide a great range of ski runs for beginners especially and have all the facilities you would expect including ski schools and ski hire.

Barcelona-Girona Airport - 85 miles.
Carcasonne Airport - 75 miles.
Toulouse Airport - 165 miles.

Distances
Molitg has several restaurants and a thermal spa and a bread van stops outside the house every morning. Prades is 10 minutes drive away and is a busy market town, with all the amenities and facilities you would require, including supermarkets, pharmacies, banks and a hospital.

Further details
Molitg a charming village set the foothills of the Pyrenees. It is an ideal centre for holidaymakers all year round as the region enjoys a wonderful climate, with an average of 300 days of sunshine each year. Shopping from Fuilla is easy, with a wide range of amenities available in nearby Prades, where you will find a variety of Supermarkets, cafes, bars and restaurants. In Prades there is a large market every Tuesday and a smaller produce market on Saturday mornings.
The walks in the area are many, varied and well marked, stroll around the village or take a hike following some of the most beautiful trails in France.
For touring the area Molitg is ideally situated and offers an excellent base. Just a few sites of interest within easy driving distance are listed below:
Villefranche de Conflent, a fine example of a medieval walled town (5 minutes drive). Festivals and fireworks throughout the year, visit fort Liberia high above the town.
Little Yellow Train (le petit train jaune), catch this train from Villefranche and enjoy the spectacular mountain views right into the Pyrenees towards the Spanish border
St Thomas les Bains, outstanding natural thermal hot springs in wonderful outdoor mountain setting. (20 minutes drive)
Animal Park, Casteil, lovely day out for the children, lots of animals to see and feed, in a beautiful mountain park, the walk around the park is 2-3 km. (10 minutes drive).
Grottes de Canalettes, magnificent renowned caves with an incredible light and sound show. (5 minutes drive).
St Martin du Canigou, 9th century abbey perched impressively high on the hillside with fantastic scenery and walks. (10 minutes drive).

Booking notes
Upon booking a 20% rental deposit is due. The remainder of the rental fee, along with a £250 damage deposit, must be paid no later than 8 weeks before the holiday.

About the owner
Our family has had connections with the French Pyrenees since the 1970s when my grandfather bought a plot of land near Ceret in the hope of building a holiday home there. This did not work out but since then we have grown to love this corner of France very much and are happy to share the knowledge and experience we have to make your holiday in our house as enjoyable as possible. We are all based on the south coast of the UK and regularly go over to France to enjoy the sunshine and amazing scenery. With children ranging in age from 3-12 we have tested out the suitability of the region for families and can happily report that there is enough to keep them happy from old castles to explore to charming beaches to relax on. Combined with great food and wine there is lots for us adults too!

Why the owner chose a home in this location
This house was in a very sad state when we bought it and it took us a few years to get the various permissions required to transform it into the comfortable holiday home it is today. We have tried to retain as much of the original character of the house as possible with lots of old stonework and beams to be seen. We bought it because of its lovely location and obvious potential to become a spacious and charming holiday home.

Unique benefits of the property
Set as it is next to the church in Molitg it is a very peaceful and tranquil place to have as a base for your holiday in the French Pyreness. We have found the village to be very friendly and can recommend the local bar and restaurant where there are regular festivities and live music to enjoy. There are some lovely walks in the area to enjoy and a small guide of these is available from the local tourist information office.
