Chez Fely cottage is independent of the owners property. Set in rolling Charentaise countryside, with beautiful walks and cycleways. 6km from the bustling market town of Chalais with it's imposing chateau and renowned restaurant. Just 15 mins from Aubeterre, 40 mins from Angouleme and only 40 mins from the vineyards of St Emilion and an hour from Bordeaux. The property has a beautiful, secure 12 x 6m pool with shaded area. The local farmer sells eggs, milk, pineau and wine and a short walk away you can buy goats cheese. There is a trampoline, basketball, table tennis, board games, bikes and DVDs. Also, equipment for younger children. We are 5 mins from The Dronne river where there is canoeing and fishing, 10 mins from the water park at Paradou and only 15 mins from Aubeterre noted for being one of the 100 most beautiful villages in France. Here you can spend the day on the river beach and walk up into the village for a beer or carafe of wine and eat in one of the many lively cafes.

Changeover day
Changeover day Saturday during peak season. However, this can be negotiable out of peak times.

Notes on accommodation
Email retrieval service. Wireless connection. Babysitting service is provided and pre booking of local restaurants on request. A pre arrival shop is also provided on request. The Cottage is light and airy with open aspect to the rear and side.Positioned in a rural location there are many walks and cycleways to enjoy. The Cottage is independent of the owners property but with access to the rest of the grounds.
Outside
The cottage has a private driveway and rear garden onto rolling countryside. BBQ, patio area with large picnic table. There is path to the pool, which is walled with locking gates and has a laser alarm, to ensure the safety of young children. To the left of the cottage is a private field for the children to enjoy. Most popular activities are for families are walking, cycling, swimming, table tennis and when this has worn the children out and they are in bed, sampling the local wine, fruit and cheeses in the local restaurants (English babysitter available) or on your own private patio. The cottage, although rural has great family activities close by and there is always a night market or local fete to go to. On your arrival you will receive a print out of all the local entertainment to be found during your stay.
Coast/Beach
There are a large number of river beaches to be found in this area at La Jemaye, Paradou, Aubeterre, Brossac, Montguyon and St Aulaye. These beaches are safe for young children to swim.The nearest coastal beaches are 1hr 30 mins away at Royan, or south of Bordeaux at Arcachon.
Golf
There is a golf course 20 mins away at Longeveau. Tennis can be played locall or again at Longeveau
Special interest holidays
In September there is the international vintage car rally in Angouleme. Les Remparts. Special rates can be negotiated for this weekend. Secure sheltered garaging is available for your own vintage car.
Travel
It is essential to have transport as we are in a rural location. This area is served by airports at Angouleme (40 min), Bordeaux (1hr 10), Bergerac (1hr 20), Limoges (2hr).

Local supermarkets can be found in Chalais (6km), La Roche Chalais (9km). Each Monday morning there is a lively open market in the town of Chalais.
During the Summer months there is a lively night market in Pizou.The restaurants in the local towns are of an excellent standard. Aubeterre has some lively lunchtime bars and restos with more "grown up" restaurants for Mum and Dad.
Booking notes
Book direct with the owner. A 25% deposit is required to secure booking and full payment to be received 8 weeks before holiday dates. There is a £200 damages deposit required which is returnable within 2 weeks of the end of your holiday. Any special requirements can be discussed with the owners Simon and Ros.
