The gite has been refurbished to a high standard with exposed stonework and oak beams providing modern facilities with traditional Charentaise style. The hamlet is situated between the historic village of Verteuil at 5km, with its imposing chateau and a range of shops, bars and restaurants, and the very picturesque village of Nanteuil-en-Vallee 8Km again with shop, bars and good quality restaurants. Ruffec at 12km has a full range of shops including 4 supermarkets, traditional farmer's market twice weekly and numerous restaurants. The ancient walled city of Angouleme with its magnificent cathedral and beautiful architecture situated just 30 minutes drive away is well worth a visit. Poitier provides good shopping along with Futuroscope, a theme park providing an amazing experience for both adults and children. Atlantic coast is approximately 2 hours drive and offers beautiful beaches and water sports along with resorts such as La Rochelle and the islands of Il D'Re/D'Oleron.

Prices are based on weekly stays during High season changeover being Saturday to Saturday. Can be more flexible out of High season (mid July through September 1st) Minimum nights stay 4

| Bedrooms: | Upstairs bedroom 1 has double bed, wardrobe with both shelves and hanging space. Upstairs bedroom 2 is a twin bedded room with similar storage space as bed 1. Both rooms are light and airy and are decorated to a high standard with co-ordinated bedlinen |
| Bathrooms: | Upstairs bathroom with modern fittings has 90cm sq shower cubicle, vanity basin and wc. Tastefully decorated room and has the benefit of a heated towel rail. There is also a spacious landing area on this level. |
| Kitchen: | Well equipped modern kitchen units incorporating Belfast sink, washing machine, electric cooker and hob, microwave and large fridge and freezer, table and 4 chairs. This is separated from the lounge by an exposed stone wall breakfast bar. |
| Utility Room: | External 'pool pump' room contains bicycles and fishing rods for the use of guests along with a full range of cleaning equipment. There are also tennis racquets and other exterior games available. |
| Living Rooms: | The lounge with its exposed stone walls and oak beams has a tiled floor with rugs, sofa and chairs. There is also a modern eco wood burner and cupboards containing various books, games CDs and DVDs. English TV, DVD player and music system. |
| Other: | French doors from lounge onto private covered terrace with gas barbecue and table and comfortable chairs for external dining. Pool 20 metre from gite has gazebo outside furniture for dining along with loungers and a poolside bar with bar stools. |

Notes on accommodation
Secure parking. As we are on the edge of the hamlet there is virtually no passing traffic (the occasional tractor or horse - rider going along the track to the forest) which makes it suitable for children. The pool is also fenced and secured again offering a safe environment for toddlers.
Wood burning stove in lounge is capable of heating entire house when necessary. Though we have no air-conditioning we do have fans available upon request. Gas, electricity and logs are included. English owners are on site should you need them.
Accessibility
Not suitable people with mobility problems as bedrooms/bathroom are accessed by stairs.
Outside
Garden, although not fully established, has peach, pear and fig trees along with a lawned area and raised shrubberies. The pool, (shared with owners, rarely), has a large paved terrace with loungers and optional outside dining furniture. There is also a stone bar along with comfortable bar stools.
Coast/Beach
Atlantic coast is approx 2 hrs drive away it offers a huge range of beaches with great opportunities for all water sports. Visit places such as La Rochelle, Royen, Cap Ferret and the lovely islands situated around the coast here. Although a couple of hours drive the roads are quiet and take you through pretty countryside and vineyards.
Golf
As we do not play golf I can offer little information on the subject, however there is a course at Angouleme.
Travel
We are within easy travelling of the airports at Limoges 1hour, Poitiers 50min, Angouleme 30 mins. all of which have regular flights from UK airports.
Ferry ports are now more easily accessible due to new motorway links with Caen, Le Havre, St Malo all within an easy 5 hour drive. Calais, Dunkirk, Bologne now approx 6 hours.
Paris 2.5hrs by TGV rail. Car hire is available at all airports and can usually be booked along with flights. Public transport is extremely limited so a car is essential.
Distances
Villages with shops bars restaurants 7km. Towns with supermarkets, markets, hospital, train station, banks 12km. Poitiers/Futuroscope 70km. Angouleme 40km. Limoges 90km. Cognac 35km. Vallee de Singe/Monkey park, is a great day out for all ages 50km.
Further details
During the summer months particularly, there are a good many fetes taking place in the local villages, often with night markets and picnics in the open giving you the opportunity to meet and enjoy the hospitality of the local community. Information on these fete days/nights can be supplied.
Confolens (approx 30 mins away) has a music and dance festival, usually August. Cognac has a blues/jazz festival July/Aug Angouleme has a variety of festivals including hot air Ballooning, international cuisine, vintage car rally, cartoon and many others.
A welcome pack will be provided upon arrival and should you wish we can supply a meal for you for your first evening along with some lovely local wines!
Booking notes
Please contact us for more details or to receive a booking form. Prices are per week Saturday to Saturday, although start day could be flexible depending on availability. A non refundable deposit of 20% is payable on booking with the remainder to be paid 6 weeks prior to booking. A refundable security deposit of £150 with final payment. this will be returned within 10 days of departure assuming no damage.
