Olivada is a family home (400m2) in the foothills behind Cannes, where you can relax and be comfortable with family and friends. A spacious 4 bedroom villa on a south-facing plot of 7300m2 with landscaped garden and large heated pool. The house was built 5 years ago on the site of an old vineyard, and unusually for this region is on a completely flat land, surrounded by Olive Groves. The villages of Valbonne, Mougins and Opio are nearby; and within a 20-minute drive you will find a selection of sporting facilities; golf, tennis, horse riding and water sports. Nice International Airport is 20 minutes away, and you are only 11km from the Croissette in Cannes. A wonderful summer retreat - in the country but close to the buzz of the Riviera when you want it. Within walking distance you have a choice of restaurants, a boulangerie, fruit shop, butchers, cave, and a small supermarket. All around you are wonderful views over the Southern Alps and the Gorge du Loup. Perfect for outdoor living.

Notes on prices
Price is for the property per week in euros. This includes all linen and towels (except beach towels) required for your stay, as well as a weekly clean and an end of let clean.
Electricity will be charged at metered cost.
Changeover day
The changeover day is Saturday. Arrival time is 4.30pm, with departure at 10am.
If you arrive early, we will be delighted to store your baggage for you allowing you to explore the area until the villa is ready for you.

Notes on accommodation
The upstairs bedrooms have air-conditioning. The downstairs bedrooms are north facing and have fans, which is quite enough to keep them cool for you during the summer months. The pool has a security system, however that does not replace the need for constant vigilance if you have young children. The property is completely fenced off, with electric gates, and it has a large flat garden.
Accessibility
Unusually for this region, the garden is completely flat. Two of the bedrooms are on the ground floor, making this suitable for those who prefer not to climb stairs.
Parking for at least 4 cars.
Outside
The outside areas at Olivada are simply stunning. You have an entry Courtyard, where we have a large table which is perfect for dining in the evening under the stars. The pool House is 60sq.m, with a large glass table that seats 8-10 people. A large gas-fired BBQ is available, and you have a summer kitchen with dishwasher, sink and gas hob. Everything you need for out-door dining - and with fabulous views over the Gorge du Loup. As part of the Pool House, there is a large cupboard for storing the lounger covers, and bikes (available for your use, but you need to like cycling up and down hills!) as well as a changing room with shower, wash basin and wc. A table tennis table is on the large terrace next to the pool - great fun for young and old alike. The heated, tiled, pool is 14m by 6m, plus an in-pool seating area. Pool alarm. Loungers are also provided, so you can relax and enjoy your holiday. The house is south-west facing, so the sun is on the pool all day.
Coast/Beach
The Croissette at Cannes is 11km away - and you can easily reach the beaches along the Cote d'Azur by car within 15 - 20 minutes.
In addition to the many public beaches, you have a selection of private beaches to choose from, beach side restaurants and bars, and of course numerous water sports.
Golf
Within 15 minutes drive of the villa, you have 7 superb golf courses. The owner is a keen golfer, please contact us for details or to book tee-times for you. Two sets of golf clubs (ladies and gents) are available for your use during your stay. All that we ask is the you leave them as you find them.
Travel
Nice Cote d'Azur airport is 20 minutes by car.
Public transport in the area is limited, so a car is essential. You can, however, drive to the nearby station at Mouans Sartoux and take the train along the coast to Cannes, Antibes, Nice, Monaco and off into the Italian Riviera - or head inland to Grasse.
Distances
Valbonne village is 5 minutes by car - wonderful selection of restaurants, shops and of course it's famous Friday Market.
The hilltop village of Mougins, home of many renowned artists, has wonderful Art Galleries and restaurants, it is also a 5-minute drive.
Cannes is 11km away, with Antibes 15km. You can easily drive the scenic coast from St Tropez to Monaco.
Further details
Our Olive Harvest this year was excellent, producing 36 litres of the most magical olive oil. A bottle of this will be left for you to sample during your stay with us. It is our pleasure to provide you with a welcome pack on arrival, with all those little essentials, some wine and products of the region.
Booking notes
50% deposit to confirm booking. The balance, plus a security deposit of Euros 2500 is payable 8 weeks before you arrive. This security deposit will be refunded (less any charges for damage) within 15 days of your departure. A mid-term and a final clean is included, as are all the towels & linen required for your stay.

About the owner
Having taken early retirement after many years working in the Middle East, we chose the Cote d'Azur as we could not bear the thought of life without sunshine. This house was designed by us with the help of a well-known local French architect, and we were involved with the build from start to finish. A wonderful project to start our new life in France. We have never looked back, and every day are delighted with both our choice of country and location.
Why the owner chose a home in this location
The children describe this house as our 'dream house' and they are really very close to the truth. We initially chose the location due to the proximity to the International Schools and to Nice Airport. That set us hunting to find a plot of land that we could build on, and fell in love with this old vineyard, two and a half acres of completely flat land with views over the hills and a sunset to die for. We have everything here close to hand. Cannes is a 15 minute drive away, so when we feel the need for a town off we go, a tour of the shops, a walk around the old town but most of the time we are very content to stay closer to home, shopping each week in Valbonne Village, and visiting our favourite restaurants in Mougins. Children moved on now, but we are here to stay!
Unique benefits of the property
Have I enough space here to say what I love? I doubt it. This house is a true family home, it has lots of space, so friends and family are always welcome, and can find their own space, their own terrace or lounge area - or they can join us in the large farmhouse kitchen, or in the summer by the pool. Outdoor life here is the never-ending joy. The large heated pool has a seating area - sipping champagne and watching the sunset is a must. We have the most wonderful pool house and terrace. The BBQ is well used most evenings, and the kitchen area means that any cooking can be done outside as well. No need for anyone to be stuck indoors! We are so close to everything, and with good access. No death-defying moments on single track roads - I am getting too old for that now!
