La Retraite is a traditional detached 150 year old dry stone house, situated in the tranquil mountain village of Cazaux Fréchet in the beautiful Val du Louron. It has been carefully restored to a high standard. South facing it benefits from a sunny aspect both summer and winter. It has an enclosed private garden with stunning views of the surrounding mountains and over the valley. It is the perfect place to relax away from the hustle and bustle of modern life or to engage in the numerous outdoor activities.Whilst La Retraite has a tranquil setting it is only 5 minutes drive from the amenities of the valley, including, a lake, outdoor swimming pool, indoor spa and supermarket. The area is ideally situated for outdoor activities including cycling and walking ranging from easy strolls in stunning mountain scenery to challenging hikes up 3000m peaks. In winter the valley transforms into a snowy wonderland. There are 2 ski resorts close to hand and several others within easy reach.

Period of hire commences at 15:00 on Saturday and ceases at 10:00 on the last Saturday of the hire period.

La Retraite is available for rental throughout most of the year. The house heated by convection heaters and/or log burning stoves. Not suitable for very small children.

Skiing
The Vallée du Louron has two ski resorts both of which are about 15 minutes easy drive from La Retraite. You will also be close to the ski resorts of St Lary Soulan, Luchon and Piau Engaly giving you plenty of variety close to hand.
While you may not have heard of Peyragudes you are likely to have seen it. Its claim to fame was “starring” as the location for an arms bazaar on the Russian border in the James Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies. The name comes from a combination of two villages Les Agudes and Peyresourde both set at 1600m. The resort rises from 1600m to 2400m and offers 55km of pistes served by 110 snow canons.

The Val du Louron is renowned for its natural beauty. Located in the Haute Pyrenees it has everything for the lover of the outdoors. The valley is often on the route for the Tour de France as it was in 2005 and 2006. Close to Cazaux Frechet are the market towns of Arreau and Luchon which is also a spa town. Arreau has a market every Thursday morning and Luchon Wednesday and Saturday mornings from June to September. There is a supermarket and cash machine in Loundvielle. Luchon is a busier town with a selection of shops, bars, supermarkets and banks, with cash machines that take UK credit and debit cards. Activities in the Val du Louron are many including walking for all levels, climbing, paragliding, horse riding, cycling and white water rafting. There is an adventure park, outdoor pool, pony riding and spa at the Loudenvielle lake. In winter the area is a centre for winter sports including downhill and cross country skiing, snowshoeing and climbing.
