Chalet Horizon is built on the slope facing Mont Blanc, and looks across the valley of St Gervais. Local skiing ranges from the wooded slopes of St Gervais, to the mountain villages of St Nicholas and the glamour of Megeve. Les Contamines ski area is only 10 minutes away. Chamonix and the famous Vallee Blanche is a 25 min drive. St Gervais' world-famous ancient thermal baths are 10 minutes away. In summer, the chalet is the perfect base from which to experience the spectacular walking and climbing that Haute Savoie has to offer, or can simply provide the perfect place for some well-earned rest and relaxation.

Notes on prices
Prices shown are for the property per week in euros. 20% discount on all lets of three weeks or more outside the ski season and the school holidays. Cleaning charge 50 euros for the apartment, and 25 euros for the studio. Linen is 12 euros per person, (to include sheets, duvet covers, pillow cases, towels, bathmats and tea towels). There is a refundable damage deposit of £200/300 euros payable before arrival.
Changeover day
Changeover day is Saturday in the English and French school holidays. At all other times we are flexible.
Notes on accommodation
All heating is by electric radiators which are regulated by the tenants. Towels and linen are only included for stays of a fortnight or more, otherwise they are available for a supplement. Cleaning is not included, but a service is available on request.
The property is ideal for families. It is situated on a cul-de-sac which leads to a farm. Children can have the run of the large garden, and can toboggan safely at the end of the track. St Gervais is very family oriented, and provides a wide variety of facilities and activities for children. The local ski school is at Le Bettex, and is only a 5 minute drive away, eliminating the need to queue at the bottom of the lift in St Gervais. Local activities include hang gliding, ice skating, horse riding, tennis, and swimming. Most of the lifts are open in the Summer holidays, enabling visitors to visit glaciers, ice caves, etc, or just enjoy high level walks.

The property is not suitable for wheelchairs.
Outside
Cars can be parked on the drive directly outside the apartment. The apartment has a large private decked terrace, with a panoramic view of Mont Blanc and the massive, as well as full use of the garden. There is plenty of garden furniture, a barbeque and parasols for shade (much needed in Summer).
Coast/Beach
One of the largest freshwater lakes in the area is 10 minutes drive away. A great day trip in the summer, the lake has a beach, can be used for windurfing and swimming, and is open for picnics. A second local lake, specifically designed and bioecologically cleaned for outdoor swimming, provides panoramic views of the massif from the water. The lake-side town of Annecy is less than an hour away and offers a variety of water-sports, including sailing and waterskiing.
Golf
There is an 18 hole golf course at Megève (15 minutes drive away) and another in Chamonix (25 minutes drive away).
Skiing
The chalet was built to use for skiing. The cable car goes up from St Gervais. The midstation is 5 minutes drive from the Chalet, has a ski school, and is a great base for beginners. More serious skiers can access the entire St Gervais/Megeve ski area (82 lifts/300kms of piste) from the same lift. Powder enthusiasts will not be disappointed - Chamonix and the whole valley are renowned for their wide and steep powder fields. The Vallee Blanche is an easy half an hour away.
Travel
Geneva airport is one hour's drive door-to-door, and bus links to/from the airport are very good in the holiday season. Calais is an eight-hour drive. A car is almost essential to take advantage of all the area has to offer.
Distances
The chalet is about 5 minutes from St Gervais, 15 minutes from Megeve and Les Contamines, and 25km from Chamonix. Annecy is less than an hour away.
Further details
The beautiful town of St Gervais provides everything an Alpine French town could offer, including shops, restaurants, cafés and a cinema. Its amenities also include a beautiful open air pool with 8 adjoining tennis courts, 4 of them clay, and mini golf. A rack and pinion railway leaves from the town centre to carry climbers and tourists up the slopes of Mont Blanc to see the glaciers in the Chamonix valley. Walking is unlimited and varied, from country strolls to the famous 'Tour de Mont Blanc'. In addition, there are numerous other activities locally, such as Mountain Biking, Rafting, Canyoning, Paragliding, Ballooning and Horse Riding. At the end of May and befinning of June the mountains come out in a blaze of flowers, many of them plants much sought after by english gardeners.
Booking notes
Clients can take an option for 5 days, at the end of which the deposit of 25% should be paid. (Sterling or euros) The balance is payable 6 weeks before the holiday.
