The house is right in the heart of Vouvant, which is an absolute gem of a place! Nestling amidst the rolling, forested countryside of the southern Vendée, this medieval village, rightly acclaimed as "l’un des plus beaux villages de France", makes for an ideal holiday location. Vouvant is a living, working village with a good selection of cafes and well-stocked store. There are supermarkets within a 15 minute drive and weekly market in Fontenay-le-Comte, less than 10 miles away.

Notes on accommodation
This is very much a family holiday home which has provided wonderful holidays as our children have been growing up. The village location is ideal, offering ready access to shops and cafes. It is a safe, peaceful environment, with cycling, riding & tennis on the doorstep. Lake swimming & boating, 15 mins by car. Outdoor heated pool 15 mins by car. Adult and child bicycles are provided.

Accessibility
Bathroom & bedrooms are located on the upper floor with access by a wooden staircase. Parking is on main village green, a few seconds from the house.

Outside
Outside dining in enclosed yard to rear, with Weber bar-b-q. Quiet, communal courtyard to front of house also offers pleasant outdoor area. We use the village, quite literally, as an extension to the house and there is no shortage of idyllic spots where you can while away the hours, perhaps enjoying a picnic lunch by the river, or a glass of something special in the evening sunshine…

Coast/Beach
L'Aguillon and La Tranche sur Mer about 1 hour - lengthy, clean & guarded sandy beaches. Ile de Re - one of the west coast of France's best-kept secrets - 70 mins some stunning beaches with excellent surfing. La Rochelle 60 mins.

Golf
45 mins at La Roche sur Yon.

Travel
Nearest airports at La Rochelle, Poitiers and Nantes. Cross-channel ports: St Malo 3.5 hrs; Cherbourg 4+ hrs; Caen 5+ hrs. Car highly recommended.

Distances
Central village location - good range of shops, cafes; doctor, post office, church, auberge. Supermarkets 15 mins by car; weekly market (Fontenay le Comte) 15 mins.
There's masses on offer within the immediate vicinity - for children & adults alike. Slightly further afield, the west coast & La Rochelle are an hour's drive, as is the Ile de Re. Puy du Fou, Saumur, the chateaux and vineyards of the Loire, the Venise Verte, Futuroscope are all within comfortable driving distance.

All linen and towels normally provided, although guests may provide their own if they wish - cost reduced accordingly. House cleaned prior to arrival, guests are asked to leave clean & tidy on departure.
25% deposit secures booking. Balance to be paid 8 weeks prior to due arrival date.
Welcome necessities provided at no extra cost. All utilities, including firewood & charcoal, plus wi-fi access, included.
