This stunning property was carefully and lovingly restored in early 2004. It retains many original features, and is decorated to a very high standard throughout. It is an extremely spacious property, comfortably housing 10 people. There are 2 double bedrooms and 3 twin bedrooms, with a cot and additional travel cot available on request. You will never feel cramped! Set in one and a half hectares of private land, it boasts a huge west facing terrace overlooking a secluded swimming pool. The house is set in a beautiful location, surrounded by fields in every direction. There are no direct neighbours and when there, one is very much 'by themselves'. The surrounding area belongs to the local farmer and so, if any noise or movement is seen, it is most probably in the form of cow wondering in to a nearby field! Nearby are numerous charming bastide market towns, along with activities including canoeing, horse riding, fishing and go-karting. Chateauxs and vineyards are also in abundance!

Changeover day
Please note that the changeover day is a SUNDAY. Guests can arrive after 4pm and should vacate the property by 10am on the day of departure. Prices include all bed linen, bath towels and pool towels, electricity, hot water and final clean.

Notes on accommodation
The property provided extremely spacious accommodation for 10 people and is suitable for both adults and children. There is a cot which is permanently set up (can be moved between bedrooms if necessary) and also a travel cot available on request. There is a pool table, table football, and various board games available at the property.
Accessibility
Accommodation includes a twin bedroom on the ground floor along with a shower room and wc on the ground floor, allowing it to be suitable for those with limited mobility. Access in to the house may be from double doors directly in to the sitting room. Where this route is used, no steps are encountered, enabling access for wheel chair users.
Outside
Set in one and a half hectares of private land, with no direct neighbours, 'Grandbuc' allows for a secluded getaway. The property boasts a huge west facing terrace overlooking a 10x4m secluded swimming pool. There is paving around the swimming pool, with 10 comfortable sunloungers with cushions provided. The swimming pool has an alarm system attached to it, which is in line with the french regulations. When set, the alarm will sound if an object of more than 5kg breaks the surface tension of the water. This alarm then sounds throughout the property, making everyone aware that something/someone has fallen in to the pool. The garden is maintained, and the swimming pool cleaned, on a weekly basis. This is done on changeover day to provide minimal disruption for guests. Occasionally it is done twice weekly if deemed necessary.
Golf
Situated approximately 35 minutes drive away is the international golf course 'Chateaux les Vigiers'. Set amidst plum trees, oak woods, lakes and vineyards it boasts a superb 18 hole par 72 golf course and driving range. Visitors are welcome, and golfers with a minimum of 36 handicap can play with clubs, trolleys and electric carts for hire. It also has 6 covered and 6 open air driving ranges, a putting green, a chipping green and a practice bunker - clearly making it a suitable club for all standards. For those who wish to abstain from the golf, there is a new health and beauty spa and two restaurants! Approximately 20 minutes drive away is the less expensive 'Golf de Barthe' golf course, a 9 hole par 36 course set in a rural oasis surrounded by farms, fields and countryside. It is a challenging course with a mix of undulating fairways, small lakes and woods. There is a club house selling drinks, snacks and lunches. There is also club hire, cart hire and trolley hire.
Travel
The most popular route to the house is to drive from any of the channel ports and use the network of roads down to the south west of France. Flying is easy, Bergerac airport serves daily flights to and from London Stansted, London Gatwick, East Midlands, Liverpool, Southampton, Leeds Bradford, Exeter, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Bristol airport. Bordeaux airport is approximately one and a half hours by car, and is served by all main UK airports.
Distances
'Grand Buc' is set amongst the beautiful and historic rolling countryside of France. It is situated 3km from the nearest town of Lauzun, approximately 7km from the market town of Castillonnes and 10km from Eymet. It is 25 minutes south of Bergerac which is on the Dordogne river.

'Grandbuc is set on the borders of the Lot-et-Garonne and the Dordogne. The area boasts a load of activities. There are numerous beautiful bastide towns within half an hours drive away which are always worth a visit, if just to wonder around. All of these towns have a market once a week, selling anything from fresh produce to clothes. A number of them also have a weekly night market in the summer months. These are well worth a visit, and joining in with the hustle and bustle of the locals is always entertaining! For the more active there are two gold courses nearby as mentioned above, along with tennis and canoeing. There is also an excellent riding stables 10 minutes walk away, which caters for all abilities with very well-behaved horses of all shapes and sizes! The area also offers donkey cart rides and go-karting - children will not get bored! And for the adults, there are numerous places to carry out the obligatory wine tasting. There is a pool table, table football, and various board games available at the property to suit all ages.
Booking notes
All prices are per week and are quoted in pounds sterling. Bookings are confirmed on receipt of a 20% deposit and full payment is required 8 weeks prior to arrival. A security deposit of £200 is required prior to arrival and is fully returned after the end of the holiday period subject to the property being checked and approved by the maintenance company. Please ensure that you are fully insured against cancellation.
