Maison Q is set in a delightful position at the head of a quiet cul-de-sac, overlooking a stream and private woodland, yet within easy walking distance of shops, bars and restaurants. It has 4 good-sized bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a spacious through lounge/dining room, a private pool with surrounding patio and a summer kitchen with built-in BBQ and dining table to seat 8. Quillan is an attractive market town situated on the banks of the river Aude and in the foothills of the Pyrenees. It is ideally situated for visiting all the Cathar castles, local lakeside beaches, the nearby mountains and the Mediterranean coast. There is plenty to do for all ages - as active or as realaxing a holiday as you wish to make it!

10% discount offered for a booking of two weeks or more.

Changeover day
Changeover dates are flexible except for the months of July and August (Saturdays only). Access on day of arrival from 4pm and return of key by 10am on date of departure. Subject to availability, additional days will be charged on a pro-rata basis.

Maison Q has a secluded garden with private pool (7.5m x 3.5m). Large sun terrace with 6 sun loungers/chairs on extensive patio. Covered summer kitchen with built-in BBQ, gas hob, hot and cold water and dining table to seat 8. Parking available in garage, on drive or in space adjacent to property

Coast/Beach
One hour drive to La Bacceres. A further half hour to St Cyprien Plage and Argeles-sur-Mer, with miles of unspoilt sandy beaches. You will also find a picturesque lakeside beach with supervised bathing, kiddies' playground and tennis courts at nearby Puivert.

Golf
Championship standard golf course at Carcassonne at 50 minutes drive.

Skiing
The nearest ski station is situated at Camurac, which is about 35km from Quillan. There are several other resorts within an hour's drive.

Travel
If you don't fancy the drive south, there are numerous low-cost airline options available from several airports in UK, Ireland, Germany and Belgium to the following local airports:
Carcassonne (50 minute drive). Perpignan (1 hour drive). Toulouse (90 minute drive). Bezier (90 minute drive). Girona, Spain (2 hour drive). All the above airports are served by several of the recognized car hire companies.

Distances
Quiilan is situated mid way between Perpignan and Carcassonne, and is within easy driving distance of the famous Cathar castles. Quillan has a rail connection to Limoux and Carcassonne and is within an hour’s drive of the Mediterranean coastline.

Further details
Quillan is situated in the beautiful Aude region, famous for its variety of outdoor pursuits, its Cathar heritage, and its stunning mountain scenery. The region is reputed to be the sunniest in France, and boasts a long coastline, with excellent sandy beaches and picturesque fishing villages. Wine tasting opportunities abound in what is one of the largest wine growing regions in France. The town itself is an ideal centre for a number of outdoor activities (e.g. walking, climbing, water sports and cycling), as well as easy access to all the Cathar castles and their associated history. The town also boasts a number of good restaurants and bars, and is host to a number of local festivals and concerts during the summer. There is a market twice weekly selling local produce and crafts, as well as a weekly night market throughout July and August.

Within easy reach of the property you will find: A man-made lake, with sandy beach and supervised bathing at nearby Puivert (plus castle). A championship golf course at Carcassonne, 50 minutes. At 1 hour's drive the beach resort of La Bacceres. A further half hour to St Cyprien Plage and Argeles-sur-Mer, with miles of unspoilt sandy beaches. Limoux: is the home of the famous ‘Blanquette de Limoux’, the original ‘champagne’. Carcassonne and its beautiful medieval city with World Heritage status - a great day out and scores of good restaurants.

The famous Canal du Midi, with various ports and boat excursions; Rennes-le Chateau, and its mythical link to the Holy Grail (see Da Vinci Code). Several Cathar castles in the surrounding hills. A ‘Go Ape’ Adventure Park at La Forge in Quillan. A recreational Water Park (slides etc) at nearby Axat. Spa bathing facilities at Rennes-les-Bains abd Alet-les-Bains. Hiking. climbing, caving, biking and horse riding close by Morning markets (Wednesdays and Saturdays) in Quillan. White water rafting, canoeing and swimming in the Aude.

Booking notes
Once we have been contacted with a booking request, we will reserve requested dates for one week pending receipt by us of a signed booking contract and a non-refundable booking deposit of 20%. The balance payable will be due at least eight weeks prior to start of rental period, together with a security deposit of £200 against material breakages and damage, which will be refunded in full within ten days of departure, subject to inspection.
