Our self catering holiday gite is located at the end of a winding lane taking you through rolling countryside with fields of sunflowers and maize during the Summer months. This thoughtfully restored 300 year old farmhouse is set in grounds of over 5,000 square meters, with a large alarmed shared pool which is in a secluded elevated area overlooking great views. Near Aubeterre (top of Frances 10 most picturesque villages) on the Charente/Dordogne border about an hour's drive from Bordeaux or Bergerac airports. In an area renowned for its beautiful scenery, excellent food and wines. If you enjoy golf or tennis the welcoming club Le Manoir de Longeveau is just minutes away. Satellite TV. | Living Rooms: | Spacious lounge opens onto the private terrace, enjoying countryside views to the south. There is a wealth of old beams and handmade tiles and a Charentaise open fireplace. For entertainment there is UK satellite TV, DVD player, stereo CD radio & games. |
| Cleaning/towels/ linen/maid service: |
Bathroom towels and linen are available on request along with any maid/cleaning services you may require. Our English housekeeper lives a short distance away and can usually accommodate babysitting requests. |

Accessibility
The Lavender Room is on the ground floor and suitable for those who find stairs difficult. Unfortunately, the house is not suitable for anyone with mobiliy problems.
Outside
Extensive grounds, great for kids to explore, large shared alarmed pool overlooking countryside views. Private south facing terrace, part shaded, overlooking fields of sunflowers in the summer, with 2 patio tables and chairs seating 10, plus mini-furniture for little ones. BBQ.
Golf
5 minutes away is Le Manoir de Longeveau a friendly Anglo - French club welcomes visitors. It is set in a stunning valley designated in Michelin maps as a place of special beauty. There is a challenging nine hole golf course with lessons available by arrangement, swimming pools, indoor sports facilities and a bar, all open to the public. The Manoir is owned by an English couple, Rick and Lynne who organise trips and outings which you can join. There are 3 floodlit tennis courts, which can become busy in the high season. A creche with fully trained multi lingual staff comes well recommended.

Further details
A couple of minutes drive away is a large supermarket with petrol, bank, bakery and if you enjoy good food there is a wide variety of excellent restaurants to choose from,
the nearest is less than 5 minutes away.
Nearby are the famous Vinyards of Bordeaux, Bergerac and Cognac and the wine capital of St Emilion.
Very close to the river Dronne which and has much to offer along its banks, great restaurants, pretty villages, a "sandy beach", small water park, fishing, canoeing etc.
There are several horse riding stables and lovely walking trails in the area.
The quiet roads are ideal for cycling, with more challenging biking trails nearby along with bike hire.
The sights of the Dordogne can easily be explored including mediaeval towns like Perigueux, the world famous painted caves and the weekly market at Riberac.
