Situated in the heart of Impressionist Normandy, Le Studio du Peintre is less than 2km from Honfleur. A 5 minute car ride or a half hour walk along a small country road will take you to the center of one of the most delightful and picturesque small fishing-port of France. Sought out by numerous impressionist painters, Honfleur was a second home to Monet, Boudin, and Eric Sati. Le Studio du Peintre is attached to a small timbered cottage. It has its own patio area and garden and is surrounded by a charming walled garden. It faces peaceful green fields and woodlands, providing hours of quiet walking and exploration. Set in this secluded Normandy countryside, the studio offers the dual advantage of being very accessible to the coast (Deauville, Trouville and Honfleur) and the main travel routes (Le Havre, Rouen and Paris) whilst avoiding the hustle and bustle of this much sought after location.

Notes on prices
Please note that Friday, Saturday or Sunday night stays are charged 100€ each from 15 May to 15 September and 80€ at other times. Friday,Saturday and Sunday stays include linen. 7 day stays or more = -20%, 3 day stays= -15%. Breakfast : 7€/ person and includes juice, croissant, fresh baguette, homemade jam, and tea or coffee.
Linen rental: 20€, Cleaning: 20€ Additional charge for third person: 20€.Christmas and New Year are priced
Accommodation
| Bedrooms: | The main sitting room is a large and sunny area (17m2) and doubles up at night into a comfortable bedroom. The bed settee is a French ‘clic-clac’ and is amazingly easy to use and transform from bed to settee and visa-versa. A single bed can be added. |
| Bathrooms: | The studio has a large shower room with toilet and wash basin in the same space. Everything is new. |
| Kitchen: | The fully equipped kitchenette has a small fridge and freezer, two electric hobs, toaster, coffee maker, kettle and a mini-oven. There are plates, bowls, wine glasses, water tumblers, crockery, pots and pans. |
| Living Rooms: | The sitting room has a bed settee, a dinning table, 2 chairs, an arm chair, a chest of draws and a closet. The studio does not have a TV, it does have a TV screen and video and a DVD player. There also is the possibility of a wifi connection, so internet. |
| Cleaning/towels/ linen/maid service: |
Linen not included in price, it can be rented for an additional fee of 20 euros (this fee included 2 sets of towels and sheets). The studio runs like a ‘gite’, so you are responsible for tidying up. Final cleaning can be arranged for a further 20 euros. |

Accessibility
The property is not really suited to disabled people as there are a few steps up and down to it.
Outside
The garden area is small but very cosy and attractive. There is an outside table and 3 chairs, a very efficient small barbeque and a sun umbrella. There also are 2 deck chairs. For dog owners, there is a lovely walk just opposite to the old ‘lavoir’ and beyond for those who like exploring!
Coast/Beach
The Studio is a 15 car ride from the famous sandy Deauville and Trouville beaches, home for the American film festival. Honfleur has its own quaint sea side beach providing miles of seaside walks and a very special feel as the Seine estuary slowly meanders into the Chanel Sea.
Golf
There is a local golf course about 15 min drive away.
Special interest holidays
The studio can provide as required painting courses (I am a painter) and drawing practice. Both possible as peine-air activities and can be adapted to any level or age. If you are interested in such a course please let me know and I'll very happily give you further details. There is also plenty of horse riding and races around.
Travel
The nearest airport is Deauville 15 mile. Next to nearest is Orly, Paris about 2½ hours. The nearest ferry port is Le Havre 30 min drive, then Ouistreham 1 hour drive. A car is recommended, though some holiday makers have preferred to rent bikes.
Distances
The nearest town is Honfleur (1 mile to the edge of town), the nearest baker is ½ a mile, with delicious hot croissants! The D-Day beaches are about 1hour from the studio and easily accessible via the autoroute. Most famous Normandy land marks like Etreta are within an hour's drive. Giverny (Monet's home) is 1½ hour away between Paris and Honfleur. The famous Rouen cathedral is 1 hour's drive away.
Further details
Deauville is also famous for its horse races and polo competitions. August is Jazz festival time in Honfleur where music fills the streets and the old ‘Grenier à Sel’. or those who prefer the country side, the Studio du Peintre is situated on one of the many foot paths to be found in this sought after area of Normandy. With rolling hills that go down to the sea the area offers a wealth of unspoilt countryside for the nature lover: Bird sanctuaries, marsh lands, wild Rhododendrons and wild orchids included! Honfleur is also with in reach of the Mt.St. Michel and Giverny. September is time for the ‘Fête de la Crevette’ a shrimp festival! and November hosts the Russian film festival. Local activities include cycling, fishing, golf, horse riding, paragliding, sailing, swimming, tennis, walking, water skiing, and wind-surfing.
Booking notes
To book, please send a 30% deposit. Upon reception I will send you a contract and full directions on how to find me. The remaining sums are due upon arrival, in the local currency (euros) and a 150€ security deposit will be required and returned to you at your departure.

I am bilingual in French and English having been brought up in the States, lived in UK and born French... so Normandy seems the right spot to travel to. I live in Normandy and Honfleur is such a beautiful area, no wonder that is's been painted over and over again. The light is so special and so changing! every second is a new picture!
this magical house was just close enough and far enough to enjoy both the country side, the sea and the town , all in blissful peace.
