'La Petite Maison' is situated in a quiet hamlet, set in beautiful rolling countryside in the Périgord Vert, within the Parc naturel régional Périgord-Limousin. It is a tranquil and peaceful spot, yet within easy reach of many places of interest and activities. The surrounding countryside is ideal for walking and cycling. Many signposted walks are also suitable for bikes. Tennis, horse riding, canoing are nearby. Visit colourful traditional weekly markets with their fresh local produce, and enjoy the various cultural attractions (for most tastes); come and taste the renowned Périgord cuisine in many restaurants in the vicinity, often at reasonable prices. Here you can still experience the beauty of a star-studded sky, even the Milky Way. 'La Petite Maison' offers two spacious bedrooms, a sitting room, a kitchen/dining room, shower room with WC. Fully equipped kitchen, roofed-over terrace, large garden with heated pool (conforming to French safety regulations), lit for night time swims.

Changeover day
Changeover day is Saturday, arrival time 3 pm or later, departure time is 10 am at the latest.
Accommodation
| Bedrooms: | Both bedrooms are spacious, each with a wardrobe and a chest of drawer, etc. Bedroom 1 has a double bed. Bedroom 2 two single beds, plus a folding bed. A cot & full baby equipment, incl. pushchair are in situ. You will find a hairdryer in the bedroom. |
| Bathrooms: | The shower room with washbasin and WC is on the ground floor. |
| Kitchen: | It contains all the equipment you might need: 4-burner cooker with oven, microwave, electric steamer, toaster, kettle, hand mixer, coffee machine, fridge, separate freezer, washing machine, etc. The table sits 6 people easily. |
| Utility Room: | No utility room, but the built-in cupboard contains ironing board, steam iron, Hoover, washing basket, baby equipment etc. |
| Living Rooms: | The sitting room has a TV with DVD player, some DVDs, CD player, radio, library (in 3 languages), various games and puzzles. |
| Cleaning/towels/ linen/maid service: |
Bed linen and all towels are provided, they are changed weekly, pool towels fortnightly. You are responsible for cleaning during your stay. The property is cleaned before the arrival of each new guest. |

Notes on accommodation
The wood burning stove in the kitchen, as well as heaters in the other rooms provide heat, if necessary.
We provide free Wi-fi connection for your laptop.
Accessibility
The traditional open-tread French staircase ('escalier meunier'), which leads to the bedrooms, may not be suitable if you have problems mounting stairs. Bedroom 2 is accessed from bedroom 1 (only three steps away). A folding screen for privacy is provided. A stair gate is available.
Outside
There is a roofed-over terrace in front of the cottage with barbecue and table and chairs. The large garden (approx. 2,500 sq m) behind the cottage has a fenced in and solar-heated pool (4x8 m and up to 2.05 m deep) with underwater lighting and a removable cover that allows swimming even when the air is on the cool side. You will be sharing the pool with us (normally we are two and don't use it much). Sun loungers, a garden table with chairs, a sandpit, swing and garden games are at your disposal.
Coast/Beach
The nearest sandy beach at a lake is 10 km away.
Golf
The nearest golf courses are in St. Yrieix-la Perche (approx 30km) and Périgueux (approx 50km).
Travel
Limoges Airport is an hour's drive away, Bergerac 100 minutes' drive away. Both are served by Flybe and Ryanair. Brive airport is 90 minutes' drive to the east. Bordeaux is at 2 1/2 hours drive away and served by 'regular' airlines.
We are approx. 8-9 hours drive away from the channel ports (respecting speed limits!).
Trains: TGV station Angoulême (85km), Express train station Limoges (60km), regional trains: Thiviers (10km).
Distances
Brantôme (Venice of the Pérgord) and the fairytale castle of Jumilhac-le-Grand are each 20 minutes drive away. Lascaux, Sarlat and the Dordogne river are at less than 2 hours' drive. Limoges and Périgueux are each 55km away. The Bergerac wine growing area is 90 minutes away.
Further details
The village of St. Jory de Chalais (3km) has a baker, general grocer, an excellent butcher/caterer, Post Office, a restaurant with bar. Thiviers (10 km) has 4 supermarkets, banks, restaurants and a wide range of shops. On the outskirts of Périgueux you will find hypermarkets and many national 'chain' shops, while the town centre offers more traditional, as well as boutique and exclusive shops. Among other attractions, it is also home to "Vesuna", the excellent Roman museum with a Roman villa visible underneath its glass floor.
Our countryside is ideal for walking and/or cycling. There are numerous marked paths, and detailed maps and walking routes are at your disposal.
Booking notes
I will ask you to return the filled-in booking form (which I will send you), together with a deposit of 140 Euro (low season) or 200 Euro (high season) per week to be paid into our Euro account. The balance is due on arrival. On arrival I will require a damage deposit of £100 in the form of a UK cheque.

About the owner
I have enoyed letting "La Petite Maison" now for 15 years and hope to continue for years to come.
The cottage is equipped as I would like to find a holiday home with things I consider essential (esp. in the kitchen) for a carefree and enjoyable holiday.
I am part of a small group of holiday home owners, who sustained by the Pays Périgord Vert, offer just that little bit extra, in attention to the wishes of our guests for instance.
John and I both enjoy meeting our guests and we always endeavour to help make their hard-earned holiday run as smoothly as possible by suggesting visits, activities or just lend them a book or DVD.
We do hope you will come and explore our beautiful countryside with its many attractions and its famous cuisine.
