Prettily restored in 2006, it is ideal for family groups with a large garden, big farmhouse kitchen with fireplace and a cosy sitting room with wood-burning stove. 10 minutes drive from the vast sandy beaches of the west Cotentin, just opposite Jersey and within 90 minutes from Mont St Michel, the D-day beaches and Caen.

Changeover day
Saturday during peak season and school holidays, otherwise by arrangement. Normally arrival from 4pm, departure by 10am.

Bed linen and towels may be rented; bath mats/tea towels are provided. Linen changes according to guests requirements. House is cleaned after each visit and guests are asked to leave the house as they find it. Additional cleaning 30 euros for 2 hours. |
Notes on accommodation
The house has good quality electric radiators and is designed to be comfortable all year round. Safe for children with a large lawn at the back, and the house is well away from traffic. A selection of beach toys is available for children. The property has the Gites de France label.
Accessibility
Downstairs double bedroom and shower room, suitable for reduced mobility but not for wheelchairs.
Outside
Sunny south-facing courtyard at the front with patio, table and chairs for 10 and barbecue. Large terrace with tables and chairs plus barbecue at the back, giving on to a large, slightly sloping lawn. Parking for 2 cars at the front and two more in a parking space at the end of the back garden.
Coast/Beach
5km to Barneville-Carteret, St Georges de la Rivière. The West Cotentin coast is unspoilt and magnificent, with miles of sandy beaches backed by dunes and headlands. Some beaches are supervised by lifeguards, but most are completely wild. The water is crystal clear. There is a beautiful coastal path running all the way up the peninsula.
Golf
5km - 9 hole links course at St Jean de la Rivière set in sandy dunes.
Travel
Cherbourg ferry terminal 45 mins drive / 40km. Caen / Ouistrehem ferry terminal 100 mins / 120km; Le Havre 2½ hours / 200km. Cherbourg / Maupertus airport 50 mins / 45km. Caen-Carpiquet airport 100 mins / 120km. Valognes railway station 20 mins / 25km. Use of a car essential.

Barneville-Carteret and Portbail have a full range of shops, restaurants and amenities (supermarkets, bakers, markets, banks, tourist office etc). Golf, tennis, horse riding and beach sports are all available within 10 minutes from the house. The property is well placed for exploring this beautiful region full of chateaux, ancient churches and winding country lanes.
Booking notes
25% deposit is payable on booking with the balance due at least 15 days before arrival. Returnable deposit against damage of 250 euros payable on arrival.
