The great appeal of this house is its unique location. The unspoilt panorama of beach, sea and hills is stunning. Yet, despite its tranquil setting, at the end of an unmade track and surrounded by a nature reserve, you can walk into Cavalaire Sur Mer in 5 minutes and stylish St Tropez is only a short drive away. A gate at the bottom of the garden leads directly to one of the prettiest family beaches on the Cote D'Azur - you're so close you can be in the sea within minutes of rolling out of bed - or you can swim in the 12x 7m private pool surrounded by a spacious terrace. Two other terraces also overlook the sea. The house is furnished for relaxation. The main L-shaped living room opens onto an outdoor eating area and barbecue. In the quiet back sitting room there is a television with satellite and terrestrial channels. All five double bedrooms have sea views and three open onto a balcony that leads directly to the pool.

Changeover day
Saturday is fixed changeover day. Guests are required to depart by 10.30am and new arrivals are asked to arrive after 3.30pm.

| Cleaning/towels/ linen/maid service: |
Guests are encouraged to bring their own bed linen and towels but if this is difficult linen can be provided for a charge of £100. The house is thoroughly cleaned between lets and it is possible to arrange further domestic help. |
Notes on accommodation
The house is ideal for family groups of different generations. There is space inside and out to be alone for periods of the day. The heated pool has a shallow area suitable for young children. Other facilities include boules court, table tennis, and table football. Covered outdoor dining area and barbecue. The main en suite bedroom is air-conditioned and the other bedrooms have ceiling fans. Full central heating.
Accessibility
The unmade path from the road to house may make walking difficult for people with mobility problems.
Outside
The 12x7 private heated pool is located on a separate terrace adjoining the house. It is fully enclosed with special gates that conform to the French safety regulations (ie the railings are 1.10metres high and the gates can be opened only with a 'child proof' push and turn manoeuvre. The 'main' terrace from the living room features a covered eating area and a gas barbecue with its own food preparation space and sink. Below this terrace is the boules court.
Coast/Beach
The sea is effectively at the bottom of the garden. It is safe and clean for swimming and most people find it warm enough from late May to late October. No boats are allowed to be moored in the bay and speedboats and jet skis are kept out by a barrier of buoys.

There is a new golf course near St Tropez.
Travel
Cavalaire Sur Mer is a comfortable two hours drive from Nice Airport. From Marseilles Airport it takes a little longer. Toulon Airport is closest (45 min) but from the UK only Ryanair fly from Stansted. Toulon Airport is well served from Paris. Eurostar/TGV trains from London to Toulon (change Lille) take seven hours and Motorail from Calais serves Frejus (90 min), Nice (2hrs) and Avignon (3 hrs). If you a driving from the channel ports it is all motorway. Motorists should stop overnight.
Distances
La Couveuse is on the outskirts of the village of Cavalaire, a few minutes walk to a large 'Champion' supermarket and ten minutes to the port. Nearby tourist spots include St Tropez 25 minutes, Grimaud 20 minutes and Gassin 15 minutes. Daily boat trips from the port to the nearby islands of Porquerolles, Port Cros and Levant. Cavalaire is ideally located for exploring the beautiful hinterland of Provence including Aix-en-Provence, the Maures Massif and Verdun Grand Canyon.
Further details
Boat and bike hire is available in the village. There are also sailing and scuba-diving courses. An equestrian centre is nearby. There are daily boat trips from the port to the islands of Porquerolles, Levant and Port Cros.
Booking notes
A 25 per cent deposit is required to confirm a reservation and the balance is payable 12 weeks before the holiday date. An additional £500 security is required and, subject to any damage, will be repaid following the safe return of the keys.

Almost all our guests are serial returnees including families from the UK, Russia, USA, Canada and Australia. A number of regulars are willing to vouch that the house is as wonderful as it looks.
