It is south facing with a large terrace, leading from which is the Semi in ground 8x4 pool overlooking wonderful views and is totally independent with its own gated entrance, parking area and is surrounded by 2.2 hectares of land. Set on the edge of a small hamlet 4km from the bustling town of Thiviers which is the capital of the Fois Gras region of the Perigord. There is a choice of 4 supermarkets, banks, bars, restaurants, boulangeries and Saturday market.

Changeover day is Saturday (Unless otherwise agreed). Arrival 4pm. Departure 10am. Welcome pack.

Bed linen, towels, tea towels and pool towels are provided, the towels, tea towels and bed linen are changed weekly, and the property is cleaned on changeover days. |

Notes on accommodation
Electric Central Heating if required will be charged at 40€ per week, and there would be a small charge from May to September should the wood be required for the Wood burner. The property is gated and fenced, and opens onto an open field, and is reached by a small lane so it is perfectly child friendly.
Outside
Large terrace leading from property with large table, chairs, barbecue and sunshade. The views are to die for and depending on the time of year you can see deer, foxes and wild boar, as well as many birds of prey and smaller species on the bird table at the side of the gite. Leading off the terrace is a private swimming pool, with sun beds and covers. For younger children swing set is available and for the energetic table tennis, swing ball and a 3/4 snooker table.
Coast/Beach
Nantheuil Lake is 4km - it has a sandy beach with swimming in the lake, and other attractions. Rouffiac Lake and Leisure Park is 15km approx - and has water skiing, boating, sandy beach and swimming. Bussiere-Galant Lake and Leisure Park is 15km- this has a beach, swimming, and also has ‘Les Acrobois’ an assault course through the trees adapted in various stages for all ages from 5 plus. There is also a velorail (bikes for 4 persons) which run on an old railway track.
Travel
Nearest airports - Limoges and Bergerac both around 60km approx 1 hr - Flybe and Ryanair use both these airports. Bordeaux is 2.5 hours away, flights with most airlines. Speed Ferries from Dover to Boulogne. Many Ferries from Dover to Calais. Use of car is essential - Car hire available at airports.
Distances
The Dordogne offers a multitude of choices for all tastes. Especially famous for its cuisine, fois gras and truffles and many delicious duck dishes. There are many stunning Chateaux, Hautefort, Puyguilem and Jumhilac-le-Grande within easy reach, prehistoric caves, beautiful medieval cities and villages such as St Jean de Cole which is 6km away and is listed as one of Les plus beaux villages of France and Brantome ‘The Venice of the Perigord’ -20km with its must see Friday market and canoeing.
Booking notes
Please note a 25% non-refundable deposit is required on booking, the balance due for payment 6 weeks prior to your arrival. Booking form and booking conditions will be sent. Deposit and balance can be paid by a Bank to Bank transfer. A security deposit of £150 payable in cash on arrival which will be refunded following your departure once the cottage has been checked by the owners. Your travel insurance should include appropriate cancellation insurance and public liability.

July 2010 Wonderful fortnight - idyllic setting, great house with bags character, very friendly, helpful hosts, very impressed with region.
July 17 2010 Just had a wonderful holiday in this fabulous barn -spotlessly clean and everything you need, great hosts. Snooker Table Tennis and Swimming Pool were a big plus for the boys. Peace, quiet and solitude what more could you want.
Aug 21 Wonderful gite - exceeded our expectations. Frank and Suzanne were wonderful hosts - thank you. Many activities nearby. Children loved it.
