This 19th century, former woodcutter's cottage is situated within the forests of Les Landes in the village of Lesgor. This property has wonderful character and is situated within a 2 acre plot(approx). It is ideal for keen walkers or cyclists with quiet, flat roads and paths. The village of Lesgor is conveniently located for easy access to the lakes of Les Landes, the nearby thermal town of Dax, the airports of Bordeaux, Biarriz and Pau. We would also recommend visits to the beaches of Biscarrosse, Signosse and le Penon amongst others. The Spanish town of St Sebastian is also worth a visit.

Notes on accommodation
The property is suitable for children with a fence around the perimeter. With all accommodation on one floor and with no steps, this property is also accessible for disabled visitors. The pool depth ranges from 1 inch (at the steps) to 6ft, the shallow end varies in depth for children of different ages to enjoy. The garden and pool area are very private. Pine trees surround the perimeter of the wider informal garden area so that the property, which extends to around 1.5 acres, is not overlooked.
Accessibility
With all accommodation on one floor and with no steps to the front entrance, this property is suitable (and has accommodated) disabled visitors. The pool has large steps built into it which may prove accessible. Cars can park just outside the house.
Outside
Between the cottage and pool there is outdoor covered dining area and a lawned area in front of that. The garden extends on all sides to around 1.5 acres, with various trees such as plum, fig, oak, pine, silver birch providing shade. Outdoor furniture can be found around the pool, cottage and outdoor dining area. Anglers are permitted 5 trout from the nearby river, which is a 5-10 minute walk from the house, check signs. There is parking for numerous cars and the house has it's own private lane leading up to it.
Coast/Beach
There are numerous beaches within a 30 min drive such as Hossegor and Seignosse. Leon and Arjuzanx lakes also within a 30 minute drive and have sandy beaches and shallow water, playgrounds, refreshments, restaurants, pedal boats for hire amongst other things. The resort of Moliets is around 40minutes by car and provides lots of tourist attraction aswell as sandy beaches.
Skiing
Nearest skiing can be found at 'Gourette' in the Midi Pyrenees approximately 1.5hrs away.
Travel
The airports of Pau, Biarritz and Bordeaux are approximately 1-1.5 hours drive away. Toulouse is also accessible. All airports have car hire representatives. A car is essential. The nearby town of Dax is served by TGV (a very fast train from Paris). In the summer months it is also possible to indirectly travel from London to Bordeaux, using the train and your car.
Distances
The village centre has tennis courts & playground open to public use is a quiet walk away. Anglers will find trout fishing a short walk away (please check notice board). The village of Lesgor boasts a 14th century church and the nearby village of Laluque has a museum set in a 19th schoolhouse, shop, bars,etc. The nearest towns are Tartas, Rion and Pontonx which are approx. 5km away. The thermal town of Dax is 10 mins away. Biarritz, with it beaches and other tourist attractions, is 1 hr away.
Further details
Tartas provides shopping, tourist information, restaurants, gift shops, Saturday street markets, banking at Credit Agricole and a public outdoor swimming pool. Pontonx has restaurants and shopping, bakery, street markets. Laluque village has a museum of local history as well as a hairdresser, restaurants, shop, post office, bars etc. Leon is attractive with it thriving street markets on Saturday and Wednesdays, the lake, restaurants, canoeing. Arjuzanx lake offers very reasonable pony trekking 10euros for 1/2 hr, the lake has a life guard and refreshments during the summer. There are many other charming and attractive villages to explore. Landes national park region - A peaceful, natural retreat - refresh yourself! An area of over 300 sq km and a population of just 350,000 - the Landes National Park is somewhere to spread your wings and to get back in touch with nature. Visitors here invariably leave with a renewed sense of peace and vitality. For active days there are lakes for boating, swimming, picnic-ing or just observing the wildlife, and several centres for horse-riding, canoeing, cycle trails, rambling along marked routes or discovering local history. Join in village festivals in summer - lively, friendly, great fun! In the north the wine country is on your doorstep, in the middle and south the ocean beaches of Côte d'Argent and Côte Basque are in easy reach, as is the culture and heritage of Gascony. All in all, a natural haven. Spas - on the southern tip of the region is France's spa capital, Dax, known for the therapeutic value of its hot springs since Roman times. One of the best-known is Thermes de Borda, an extensive pool complex, for treatments, or simply for fun! Markets - the Landes Gascon-influenced heritage means food is an important part of life here too. Traditional markets take place weekly throughout the region, including in Labouheyre, Luxey, Magescq, Morcenx, Sabres, Sore.

In the first instance please check availability. Please send a £100 deposit together with a £150 refundable damage deposit if booking more than 6 weeks in advance. The balance is due 6 weeks before the holiday.

The property is accessible from 4 airports including Biarritz, Toulouse, pau and Bordeaux. The property is conveniently located for the beach and is 2 hours from the small ski resorts in the Pyrenees. The location of the cottage is peaceful and private.
