Our countryside property is situated in the village of Angliers, 15 mins from the historic port of La Rochelle on the sunny west coast of France. This secluded 250 year old farmhouse, set in 5 acres of fields surrounded by hedgerow, is a safe and engaging environment for children of all ages, a calm and relaxing place for families and couples. You can explore many of the region's attractions, museums, sights, beaches and islands; all within a short drive from us, or just put your feet up and take it easy in a hammock or by the pool. There is a restaurant, bar and bakeries in the adjacent village of Nuille d’Aunis and within walking distance a Epicerie. The on-site amenities consist of; pool with a heat pump, table tennis, badminton, paddle tennis, swings, slide, sand pit, sports area, covered toddlers play area, pool table, boules, table football cricket and darts. Our accommodations of four gites are different and unique, incorporating many of the original features of the old barns.

Accessibility
4 bedroom Maison & Studio only. Designed for wheelchair use. Good wheelchair access except for mezzanine. All internal doors are sliding with a 81cm opennings. Both external doors are double with easy crossing access. The large bathrooms are equipped with wheel-in showers, pressalit shower chair and toilet surports. For Summer 2006 help may be needed to gain access to the pool, please contact us or visit our website for more infomation.
Outside
Our shared pool is warmed by a heat pump & regardless the weather, will heat the water to above 26° between May - Sept. There is a childs safety alarm on the gate & in the pool and is completely fenced. On the hot evenings we extend opening times & the pool is floodlit. Beyond the swimming pool is the wood, under the trees we have 2 wood BBQ & picnic tables for you to use. There are hammocks to relax in, you can take a nap or just read a book, a restful place away from the sun. The outside play area has swings, slide and a sand pit. Our ping-pong table & pool table are situated under cover in the barn as is our new under 6s play area with bricks, puzzles, Duplo & table & chairs for some serious drawing. Darts & boules are also available. The games field has badminton, paddle tennis & 5 aside pitch.
Coast/Beach
Chatelaillon-Plage 12 miles. Located South of La Rochelle.
Offers a magnificent view of the coast and the islands. With a 3kms stretch of golden sand it the ideal place for a day out digging sandcastles and buring dad with the kids. Summer markets Tuesday and Friday.
Minimes 12 miles. Marina with 3500 boats, it has a sandy beach with an attractive coastal walk over looking the sea. Plenty of restuarants and bars.
Ile de re 15 miles offer many sandy beaches interlinked by cycle paths.

Our second visit to your beautiful place-we are now planning our third! We simply love it, great surroundings-so safe for the children & relaxing for the adults. The boys loved building dens the freedom to roam safely. We discovered more "little gems" this year, Ile de Ré was fab, as was Fouras. We think the atmosphere of the place you have here is terrific almost like visiting relatives with lots of fun for our little one to have with your friendly children as well as fellow guests. The BBQ night was lovely & made us feel at home mixing with all the nationalities staying here. Ile de Ré cycling was great and we recommend beaches close to La Bois with a meal at La Bicyclette. About the owner
We live on site in the old farmhouse with 2 of our 3 sons Lucas 19 and Mehdi 10 and two French children Valentin & Kevin who we have fostered since they were very small. We have lived here for 14 years and have built the place up over this period from a run-down old farm with 1 cold water tap and no toilet, to a gite complex with pool & games/function room. Still plenty to do though!
I am originally from East London and have had a variety of careers as a draughtsman, musician and in tourism. My wife grew up local to Le Moulin Boutillon in the school house of Angliers, we met on a blind date while she was in England & working in Redbridge Essex. Being foster carers for the past 13 years our focus is creating a safe but engaging environment for children.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
During the summer (though under a watchful eye) the kids spend their time in the grounds playing building dens & making friends. A few old pallets, string and plastic sheets become a world of play much more fun (& healthier) than sitting in front of a TV screen exercising the thumbs!
The morning swim is a joy as the pool is heated in the night. No more toe dipping & the rushing to the pool at 3pm because its been to cold to be use till then.
When the weather has let us down for the day there is always the games room for the kids & adults to play together.
Unique benefits of the property
When first married we were working in Gran Canary and we use to spend our holidays in Angliers visiting my wife’s parents; the village is close to all the local attractions and just a short drive to the beach and La Rochelle. The first memory I have was of the evenings in La Rochelle, there is such a vibrant atmosphere there on the warm summer nights with street entertainment & bands. La Rochelle was much more laid back than our home at the time in the Canaries, even though we live on the Island we were hassled every time we went for a meal or drink.
