La Pyrale, which is our holiday home, was built in 2000 and is set in a large garden with lawns, flower beds and trees covering an area of 982m2. The garden is professionally managed and is completely surrounded by wall and hedge and with a lockable gate. There is a garage and large parking area which can double as a boules pitch. It is a 10 minute walk from the sandy beaches of the large, picturesque fresh water Lac de Cazeaux-Sanguinet and within walking distance of the town of Sanguinet which is situated in the extensive pine forests of the Landes.

There will be a reduction of £50 for a 2 week booking.
Changeover day
Preferred changeover day is Saturday but if it is possible we will try to be flexible. Departure is before 10am and arrival after 3pm.
Accommodation
| Bedrooms: | Master bedroom with en suite shower room. There is a king sized bed, and a fitted wardrobe equipped with drawers. Bedroom 2 has double bed and fitted wardrobe. Bedroom 3 has 2 single beds and fitted wardrobe. A cot is available. |
| Bathrooms: | En suite shower room to master bedroom with shower,basin and wc. The main bathroom has a shower, basin and bidet. There is a separate wc. |
| Kitchen: | The kitchen is large and very well equipped with an induction hob, fan oven with grill, dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer, coffee maker, toaster and kettle. The cupboards are well-equipped with cooking utensils, crockery, cutlery and saucepans. |
| Utility Room: | The adjacent laundry room has a washing machine, airers and iron and ironing board. Also there is a large fitted cupboard for household items. |
| Living Rooms: | The large open plan/living/kitchen area has French windows on 2 sides and sliding doors giving onto a covered veranda. Seating for 6 in the salon and dining area. Satellite TV (French and English), DVD, video, radio/CD. Books, puzzles and board games. |
| Other: | All windows are double glazed and have shutters. There is a covered terrace with a BBQ, table and chairs for those long lazy lunches and with sun loungers for relaxing afterwards as well as cane chairs. |

The garden is enclosed by hedge and wall and there is a lockable gate making it safe for young children.
Accessibility
Suitable for the elderly but not for wheelchair users.
Outside
Free use of 2 bicycles. There are surfaced cycle tracks and tracks through the forest. On the terrace there is a table with seating for 6, cane chairs and coffee table, sun loungers, an umbrella and BBQ.
Coast/Beach
10 minutes walk to lake beaches and 20 mins drive to nearest coast beach(Biscarrosse Plage). Along the road here there is access to a string of pine backed beaches. These are the famous Atlantic surfing beaches.
The lake is the centre for all water activities, swimming sailing, windsurfing, paragliding, fishing, pedalos and kayaks. As Sanguinet is situated at the head of the lake it is possible to choose any one of many beaches and the shallow waters of the perimeter retain the sun's heat.
Golf
There are 2 golf courses within a 10 mile radius - Biscarrosse and Gujan - Mestras.
Travel
Bordeaux is nearest airport 37.5 miles. The nearest French port is St. Malo 560 miles. Brittany Ferries is now sailing from Portsmouth to Bilbao which will mean a journey of about 4hours from the port to the house.
The lake and village can be accessed by walking or cycling, but a car would be useful to explore the surrounding area.

Further details
Sanguinet has a supermarket, 2 bakeries, pharmacy, tabac, newspaper shop, cycle hire shop and bank + ATM. There is a pizza outlet open daily in high season. There is a market on Wednesday and Saturday in the high season, outside these weeks it is on Saturday only. There are restaurants and a bar in the town and 2 by the lakeside with others in Biscarrosse and Parentis (20 minutes) drive). Credit Agricole bank has a branch in the town and an ATM located in the Maire building and in the bank.
The Museum has on display finds from the 3 archaeological sites under the lake. It is possible to swing through the Adventure Park, slide down the chutes in Aqualand, climb the largest dune in Europe-Dune du Pyla, go wine tasting in St Emilion and oyster tasting in Arcachon and bird watching in Le Teich. Bordeaux is a beautiful city to explore and can be reached by train or car and the new tramway. The local tourist office organizes various activities throughout the season.
Booking notes
A non-refundable deposit of £100 per week is needed to secure the reservation, with the balance due 8 weeks before departure.
A security deposit cheque for £150 is required with the balance. This will be returned as soon as a positive report is received from our English/French speaking representative.
Rental includes all use of electricity and water.

About the owner
We are retired and living in Gloucestershire where we enjoy the scenery of the Cotswolds but, equally, love to exchange it for the lake and coastal views and activities of the Sanguinet area.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We fell in love with the area whilst on holiday in 1990 and bought an apartment in nearby Navarrosse but when we found that we spent so much time out here we decided to move to a larger property. We bought some land and had the house built to our design in 2000. We love the contrast between the lake and the coast;the proximity of the shops; the friendliness of the local people and eating in some excellent restaurants.
