Relax in the space and comfort of this lovely apartment. You will be on the top floor of a 200 year old Savoyard farmhouse, recently renovated to give warmth and modern convenience. There are 2 bathrooms – one with a full length bath. You will love staying here, from the oak floors, to the modern kitchen, cozy red couches to the magnificent view. This is a place for gentle relaxation after an exhilarating day on the mountain. Located in the tiny hamlet of Chandon, you are in a French mountain community. The street is so quiet you can sledge down it. Yet you are just a 5 minute drive (or bus ride) to the Meribel ski lifts – the very best of both worlds.

Prices are for the whole property per week. Holidays are Saturday to Saturday unless otherwise stated.

Changeover day
Saturday. With the exception of Christmas 2011 and New Year 2012 which we have changed to Friday so you don't have to travel on Christmas eve or New Year's eve.

Bedrooms: Bedroom 1 with double bed and en-suite. Bedroom 2 with twin beds with the option of a 3rd bed (there is plenty of room to accommodate this). Mezzanine has twin beds (this space is all below head height). A cot and a high-chair are available
Bathrooms: 2 bathrooms: Family bathroom with full length bath, shower over and glass shower screen, basin and WC.
En-suite to bedroom 1 with shower, basin and WC.
Kitchen: Brand new kitchen with pine doors and oak worktop. Fan oven, ceramic hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher.
Utility Room: Washing machine and tumble dryer.
Living Rooms: Large living/diner with real oak floors throughout and a stunning view across the valley from a huge picture window. 2 huge deep red sofas, TV, DVD, Sky and iPod/MP3 speakers. Pine dining furniture.

All beds are made up with crisp cotton linen for your arrival and fluffy towels provided for you. We ask you to leave the apt as clean as you found it and strip the linen from the beds.

Notes on accommodation
Parking is in the village just 30 metres away. Ski lockers are in the chalet entrance hall.

Skiing
Just 5 minutes drive to the centre of Meribel and just 30 seconds walk from the free bus stop. Most of the winter season you can ski back to the village on a blue piste.

Ideally suited for a family with easy access to Meribel by car or bus, with the bus stop 20m away. The apartment is well equipped, offers good space for 6 and we will certainly consider visiting again in 2011. Russell

About the owner
We bought Chalet Piton in 1998 and did the whole 'no going back' thing. For 8 years we ran a successful catered chalet business and in 2007 decided it was time for something else. We divided the chalet into 5 apartments, selling 3 and keeping 2 which we now let out. We lavished care and attention (not to say lots of money) on making these apartments attractive and comfortable. We spend a month each winter at the Penthouse, with 2 rooms and the mezzanine, it was specifically designed for us, son and daughter-in-law, and the two grandsons!

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
When setting up our ski holiday business we had to consider several factors - access from UK, the resort 'brand', enough sking for us not to get bored for season after season, etc. Meribel was the result of this academic study. We bought in the village of Chandon, far enough away from Meribel to feel special, a French mountain village with views, quiet streets and a history. But also close enough to have easy access to the whole 3 Valleys. We can actually drive to the Meribel lifts quicker than you can walk from Meribel Centre!

Unique benefits of the property
Being in our apartment in Chandon is about what you get and what you don't get. You don't get a 'French' ski apartment with beds in the corridor and electrical wiring hanging out of the walls. You do get space, style, comfort and all the mod-cons of dishwasher, washing machine and tumble drier. You don't get the noise of the party revelers pooring out of the bars and clubs in the middle of the night, You do get streets so quiet the kids can sledge down them. OK, we're bias, but we love being where we are and we wouldn't change it for the world.
