La Borderie is a renovated small farmstead with the buildings set around a courtyard dominated by a magnificent lime tree. The old piggery has been fully renovated to form 2 gites, one of which still retains the original bread oven. One of the barns has been given a concrete floor and equipped with 2 pool tables, a table tennis table, table football and various other toys and games. Adjoining this is a courtyard with barbecues and beyond that is a 10x5m swimming pool. Behind the gîtes lies 2 acres of grounds with 3 ponds. The surrounding land is still farmed; the main crop being the famous Limousin beef cattle.

Prices are for the property per week in euros.
Changeover day
Our changeover day is Saturday. Arrival time is after 4pm and departure time is before 10am. Should either of these times not suit, please let us know in advance.
Outside of the high season (July & August) we can offer more flexibility.
Notes on accommodation
Each gite has a wood burning stove. The stove in the Spring gite is considerably more powerful which makes that gite the better option to rent during the colder months (October through April normally). A cot, high chair and push chair are available if required. The play barn, swimming pool, large grounds and quiet location make the property ideal for children of all ages. The swimming pool has a hard cover and childproof gate. Pets are usually welcome but please contact the owners first.
Accessibility
Unfortunately neither gite has a bathroom on the ground floor and both front doors have a step. The Spring gite is probably the better option for people with mobility problems, especially wheelchair users, as front door access is easier and the ground floor is open plan.
Outside
The 2 acre grounds are largely grass and trees. There are 3 ponds of varying sizes. The 10x5m swimming pool is shared by both gites and the owners. The Spring gite has a west facing patio shaded by grapevines. The Breadoven gîte has an east facing 5m x 5m decking area accessible from the living room. The barbecue courtyard has 3 barbecues available - 1 gas and 2 charcoal. Outdoor furniture consists of several loungers, tables, chairs and deckchairs.
Travel
Limoges Bellegarde airport is 35 miles away. Limoges Bénédictins station 30 miles. Both journeys take about an hour. Use of a car is strongly recommended. Cars can be hired from both the airport and station in Limoges and also from St Yrieix-la-Perche, our nearest town. The distance from the channel ports is between 335 and 450 miles and takes 6-7 hours driving.
Distances
The nearest villages Glandon and Ségur-le-Château are 3.5 miles and St. Yrieix-la-Perche, the nearest town 6 miles.
Further details
St Yrieix is a very complete little town with a full range of shops, bars, banks, supermarkets etc. There is a cinema and a new swimming pool/leisure centre. Market days are the 2nd and 4th Friday each month.
Ségur-le-Château hosts a Producers' Market every Monday evening during July and August. Roam the stalls selecting your meat from one, your wine from another, bread from a third etc. Make your way to the BBQ in the corner where your meat will be cooked for you. Find yourself some space on the trestle tables provided and that's it. Eat, drink and be merry, listen to the live music, dance. What more could you wish for.
Since our move here 3 years ago we have devoted ourselves, selflessly and unsparingly, to researching the local restaurants. There are many good ones but they are not always the obvious ones. Happily we are now in a position to share our hard won knowledge and experience with our guests. We can give you the lowdown on most of the local eateries. And, whatever your eating requirements are, we can recommend the right venue.

About the owner
Mike grew up in Brighton and Kerstin in Sweden. We married in 1968 and have 5 kids and a further 5 grandchildren. Most of our working lives were spent in the NHS in Sussex. We both retired in 2007 and, looking for a new adventure, sold up in the UK and moved to France.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We fell in love with this area for all sorts of reasons - it's clean and peaceful, the night sky is amazing, it's unspoilt, the weather is good, it's friendly, there are plenty of good places to eat and, in the summer, there's lots to do. With our family dotted around the world it's also useful to have good transport links, air, rail & road, all within easy reach.
Unique benefits of the property
We love the setting - 4 buildings surrounding a courtyard dominated by a huge lime tree. Behind the gîtes we have 2 acres of garden dropping away with wonderful views. Summers can be really hot, so the pool is a great asset. The playbarn with its pool tables, table tennis and other games has been great for kids of all ages and is especially handy when it does occasionally rain.
