Les Papillons and L'Alouette are 2 well restored and well equipped cottages. Les Papillons is on one level only. Pool is situated in a private gated area. The boulangerie is approx 50 metres away and the cafe/bar is 100 metres away. The cottages are in the middle of the pretty village of Loubille. La Rochelle with its marina is within 90 minutes drive. Lots of good restaurants and shops. There are also very good beaches at Ile de Re, Fouras, Chatelaillon plage and Ile d'Oleron.

L'Alouette (Sleeps 5/7, 3 Bedrooms)

This stone, beamed cottage is on 2 levels and sleeps up to 7 comfortably. This is a spacious cottages with 3 bedrooms (1 double, 1 with 2 single beds and 1 singled bedded room) upstairs with a shower room with hydro shower. Downstairs there is a fully equipped kitchen/diner consisting of dining table and seating for 7, cooker, fridge and microwave. There is also a large lounge with TV, DVD, video, and music centre. There games and toys for the children to enjoy as well as books for the adults. There are 2 sofa's and 2 armchairs. Cot, highchair and baby bath can be provided as well as a baby buggy. Bedlinen is provided (please note that we do not supply towels or kitchen equipment). |

Notes on accommodation
The properties are suited with families with children and extended families.
The property is in a gated courtyard and the pool is child friendly in a lockable area.
Smoking is not allowed in the properties, but smokers can smoke outside.
Outside
The pool area consists of an above ground pool (more child friendly). There are also sun loungers around the pool, tables and chairs and parasols. In this area there is a BBQ and also a covered patio area. There are table and chairs outside each cottage and we also have a large covered patio with table and chairs and a BBQ. There is a laundry room with 2 washing machines. There are also cycles for your use.
Coast/Beach
La Rochelle with its marina is within 90 minutes drive. Lots of good restaurants and shops. There are also very good beaches at Ile de Re, Fouras, Chatelaillon plage and Ile d'Oleron.
Travel
Airports include Poitiers, La Rochelle and Angouleme all within 90 minutes drive or less. Ryanair serves these airports. Easy juet also fly Bristol to La Rochelle. There is car hire available from all these airports. Ferry ports include St Malo with a 4 hour drive. Calais and Boulogne with a 7 hour drive and Cherbourg, Le Havre with 7 hour drives and Caen with a 6 hour drive. Eurotunnel to Calais is a 7 hour drive. Car use is essential.
Distances
Loubille is situated 7kms from the market town of Chef Boutonne The Chateau de Javarzay and it's lake is situated in Chef Boutone. Poitiers with Futuroscope, Marais Poitevin (venise Vert), La Rochelle and Cognac are all within 60-90 minutes drive away. Large towns include Niort and Angouleme, both of which have historic interest.
Further details
In Chef Boutonne there are 2 banks, 2 supermarkets, Hotel/restaurant, pizzeria (excellent pizza's) and cafe/bars. The market is held on a Saturday morning selling fresh produce local to the area. There is also a tourist information office. We can also give advice on 'whats on and where to go'. There is tourist information in the cottages. There are a few man made lakes which are ideal for swimming and safe for children. Throughout thee summer there are various activities going on in the villages and everyone is welcome. Loubille hosts a BBQ for 500 people in the forest on the last Sunday in July. This starts at midday with dancing in the forest!! Not to be missed. Cognac with its cognac producers is well worth a visit. You can visit Remy Martin, Hennessy and other producers and have a taste. The Marais Poitevin is made up of canals where you can hire boats to explore. In Ruffec you can hire canoes on the Charente river. This area is in a micro climate and has France's second highest number of sunshine hours per year.
