Check availability Le Vigneron (3 Bedrooms)
This charming, deceptively spacious old french building is set-out over three floors. It was stripped right back before being completely rebuilt. This allows the luxury of under-floor heating. The top floor currently offers a large double bedroom with en-suite bathroom. On the middle floor is an airy and light living room with a double sofa bed, and an adjacent office/second bedroom with a very large treble bunk (can actually sleep four). This is reached up a short ladder, so it may not be suitable for the very young or very elderly, or someone with a disability. This room also contains a baby's cot if required. The ground floor has a well equipped modern kitchen with separate dining room/third small double bedroom, a second bathroom, and outdoor patio area for alfresco dining. In the evening the beautiful old 13th century Church is lit up and provides a wonderful backdrop.

Check availability Le Manoir + Le Vigneron together
It is possible to rent the two properties, Le Manoir and Le Vigeneron, together. This would give you sleeping accommodation for up to 20 people plus two babies very comfortably, with an optional extra 2./3 children. This option would also give you a private pool, so you would have a totally private domain with walled courtyard, garden area with barbeque and patio, summer kitchen, table tennis and pool.

Notes on accommodation
One of the twin rooms in the main house can be changed to a double, or even a treble with a double and a single bed. The main bedroom in the big house has a separate dressing room with a cot - ideal for a baby The smaller house has a large double/triple bunk on the first floor. This room also has a cot for a baby, and the adjoining Salon has a double sofabed. There is also a double futon in this house, in a restored cuve off the dining room. We can arrange for a chef to cook for you as well as a airport collection and babysitting.

Further details
Capestang is a beautiful 13c village on the Canal du Midi, and is surrounded by lovely vineyards and woods for walking and cycling and riding. There are lots of very good markets in this area, both for wonderful fresh fruit and vegetables and general goods. The coast is 20 mins away with sandy beaches, some excellent fish restaurants and the fish market of Sete. For history there is the ancient walled city of Carcasonne, the roman town of Narbonne, and the city of Perpignan. Montpellier, the buzzing university town, is only an hour away. Spain is only an 1 1/2 drive away and has a very different style to France. Or just sit by the pool with a book.

Great to be lords of Manoir in Capestang ProfP Sydney, Australia.
Date Submitted: June 15, 2008 Date of Stay: April 2008
We thoroughly enjoyed staying at 'Le Manoir' in Capestang. It was terrific to have a house so close to the centre of the village - no need to use a car to get fresh bread in the morning, or to go for a meal or a drink in the evening. There are some wonderful restaurants within a few kilometres drive of Capestang. But it's great to have one at the end of the street, and half a dozen within walking distance. There's a good supermarket just outside the village and for outstanding food shopping it's hard to beat the indoor market in Narbonne. 'Le Manoir' itself was just perfect for our family holiday - three generations comfortably accommodated.
Among the many plus points for us (i) plenty of bathrooms (ii) a dining table big enough for a dozen of us (and more), (iii) the really cheery wood burning stove (useful in April), (iv) efficient central heating.

About the owner
I am an accountant who wishes she could live and work from France, instead of rainy old Ireland! I am married with three children and two grandchildren. We adore our houses in Capestang, and we are glad that our guests seem to love the place too. What makes our home so special is that while you are right in the middle of a lively village, with bars, restaurants, patiserie, boulangerie, tabac and chemists and doctors, when you close the big gate behind you, you enter a little piece of tranquil heaven.

Year purchased: 2005
