Outside
The outdoor pool in Bourg d'Oisans is open from mid June to the end of August and is less than 10 minutes walk away. Outside of these times there is a choice of swimming pools within a short drive as well as great facilities in Alpe d'Huez. There is a large free car park within 50 metres of the houses and free parking in the centre of Alpe d'Huez for skiing, making the door to ski lifts time just 20 minutes.

Skiing
Alpe d'Huez is one of the top 5 Alpine high altitude resorts in France, enjoying the impressive scenery of the Grandes Rousses Mountains. It boasts an excellent snow record, extended season and is ideal for skiers and snowboarders of every level. Alpe d’Huez is served by 240km of pistes with 88 inter-linked lifts. For beginners the lower slopes provide 39 confidence boosting green runs. Intermediates and snowboarders can enjoy the 32 blue runs as well as 28 more challenging reds with fantastic excursions to the satellite villages. The advanced skier will find some of the most testing terrain in France from the top of Pic Blanc at 3330m, with 19 black runs including the longest in Europe, 'La Sarenne', and the intimidating 'Le Tunnel'. A snowboard fun park, ice-skating, tobogganing, indoor and outdoor swimming and fully equipped sports centre complete the winter activities. If you favour more extreme sports try skiing off-piste, skiing by night or ice climbing.

Travel
Our closest airport is Grenoble, a small provincial airport that is wonderfully quick to get in and out from. Ryanair fly all year round and Easyjet in winter. Grenoble airport is 56 miles and just over an hour's drive from Bourg. Almost as easy is Lyon airport which is 85 miles and some visitors also fly into Geneva. If you prefer to drive it is 8 to 9 hours from Calais or Boulougne. It's an easy drive as the motorways tend to be much quieter than the UK. The tolls are about 80 euros each way.

Distances
The houses could not be better positioned within the village. In the summer you can open the windows and smell the fresh baked bread from the patisserie less than a minute away. The bars and restaurants in Bourg are all within 5 minutes walk.

Janey Lelo stayed March 08. "Just spent a week at The Stables with my family. What a lovely new rental accommodation. There were 9 of us, 8 adults and 1 child. The accommodation was more than ample for us with 4 bedrooms, a super sized lounge and a spacious dining area. All new fittings inc a TV for the use of an X-box (which kept the boys happy). The village itself was picturesque with plenty of touristy shops, restaurants and many varied Pubs. The location was perfect for the quick car journey to Alps d'Huez and Les Deux Alps where we spent many perfect days Skiing.
Highly recommended. We hope to return"
David stayed Jun 2008. "Spent a great week based at the Granary House doing the Cols of the Tour de France. Excellent base for such a trip - close to shops, bars and restaurants, but not too close. Well furnished and equipped with everything thought of to make a week's stay a memorable experience."
