Further details
Quistinic is situated in the heavily-wooded Blavet Valley where the river turns sharply towards Hennebont and the coast. Just along the valley the restored 16th century hamlet of Poul Fetan has been brought to life. Visitors may watch demonstrations of rural tasks of that period, take a drink and snack at the bar, and buy local crafts. During the summer months at nearby Pont Augan one can hire kayaks, relax over a restaurant meal, take a pleasure boat trip to see more of the countryside bordering the river, or enjoy a cycle ride along the towpath. Fishing is a popular local pastime and there is easy access along the banks to the water. For those who wish to relax, Quistinic is an ideal location, and days can be spent without travelling far afield. However, there is much to explore within the region in any direction. Seafood enthusiast can indulge their appetites at excellent quayside bar/restaurants in St Goustan, Auray, or taste freshly-baked pizzas and salads. The historic walled town of Vannes with its timber-framed buildings and cobbled streets offer a wide range of interesting shops to browse. Each major town holds its summer celebration: the ten-day Inter-Celtic Festival in August draws crowds from far and wide to Lorient. Most village/smaller shops close at mid-day until 2pm. Supermarkets likewise close between 12 noon and 2pm out of season, during the high/peak season many will stay open until 7pm.

Guest comments
We spent 2 weeks in Brittany with La Chouette as our base and cann't recommend it enough. The cottage is beautiful and the setting idyllic but still has the mod. cons. The garden is perfect and private from La Vigne and we spent plenty of time lounging or barbecuing - plus collecting walnuts! Be sure to visit Poul Fetan which has a surprising amount to see and the towns of Josselin, Pontivy and Quimper are within driving distance and well worth a visit. Although the village of Quistinic is small the cottage is only a 5 minute drive from Bubry which has more shops and and Intermarche.

We had a very enjoyable stay at La Vigne. Chris and Richard have made the gite very comfortable and homely, the garden is great for kids, fully enclosed with lots of toys, slides, sandpit etc, also inside the gite more toys! The pool was also a big hit with the kids! Its very peaceful and rural, very pretty setting. I would definitely recommend! Thanks Chris and Richard
