Guest comments
"We were immediately taken with the description and pictures of Les Capucines - but the reality surpassed our expectations! The property itself, the garden, the pool area, etc. all added up to more than the sum of their parts! We would recommend!" The Fallon family, Dublin
"Thanks for being so welcoming - we have had a great time staying at les Capucines. It's been the perfect location for a relaxing honeymoon, away from it all - the facilities are excellent and we would love to come back." Jo and Dan, Somerset
"This has been the best of our French holidays thanks to Karen and Paul who have created something very special here at Les Capucines. The setting is wonderful and the obvious investment of time and effort and attention to detail have paid off. We will recommend to friends and family - but only after we have made our return booking!" The Stewart family, Co. Antrim
Owner profile
About the owner
My husband and I are originally from Scotland but lived and worked in England for a number of years. We visited France regularly on holiday and owned a holiday apartment with friends in the South of France for some years. When the opportunity arose for both of us to change our careers, we decided to come to France and combine our love of all things French with offering a perfect setting for others to holiday here in the very attractive Charente Maritime area in the South West of France.
Year purchased: 2005
Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
The Charente Maritime area of France is the second sunniest to the Cote d'Azur. The area is extremely attractive and relatively undiscovered and unspoilt. There are a number of fabulous places to visit - ranging from sandy beaches, to historical towns, to rolling countryside. This area is also home to some great local produce - in particular, oysters and shellfish, Cognac and Pineau, cheese and wine. Our house, Les Capucines, is a beautiful old charentaise stone house which has been lovingly converted and restored into our home and our holiday properties.
Unique benefits of the property
You can reach us by air, sea or road - depending on how long you want to spend travelling. We offer the peace and tranquility of the countryside with the ease of the facilities and amenities of large towns close at hand. Our French neighbours are friendly and welcoming to all our guests, waving to them and shouting "Bonjour" as they pass by! We try to provide everything you need for a perfect "home from home" holiday and this enables you to travel to us with a minimum of hassle and effort. Since coming here, we have built a strong following of guests who have come back year after year - and who we now class as friends rather than clients!
