Coast/Beach
The whole of the west coast of the Cherbourg peninsula is pretty much one long beach. It's just under a 10 minute drive to a vast and deserted beach, where you can collect your own shellfish at lowtide. On a clear day you can even make out houses on Jersey from the beach.
Golf
20 minutes away.
Travel
The ferry ports of Cherbourg and Caen are 50 minutes and 1 hour 45 minutes away respectively. Both are served by Brittany Ferries, we are able to off a small discount on your crossing if with them. The nearest airport is Dinard and is 2 hours away, it is possible to book a hire car to be waiting for you at the airport. Although we are only 2km from town we feel that a car is essential, unless of course you are planning a biking holiday.

Further details
The Manche area of Normandy is a gentle and peaceful region, perfect to explore at your leisure. From a simple stroll down the lane into the forest, or a more energetic ride to the beach on the tandem. The abbey town of Lessay is only 3 minutes away by car and has everything you should need, a good choice of shops and an excellent supermarket. The abbey is famous throughout France and well worth a visit. In early September the fair of St Croix is held over three days; said to have been started by the monks over a thousand years ago; you can buy anything from a cow to a washing up bowl! The stunning (and empty) west coast beaches are less then ten minutes away by car. The D Day landing beaches and American cemetery, as well as Mont St Michel both make good day trips; the mediaeval town of Bayeux and the world famous tapestry is under an hour and a half away. You can even catch the train to Paris for that extra touch of romance. There are several other small towns within a 10/15 minute drive of the gite along with a good choice of places to eat. You will find lots more information on the region in our information pack. Our gite is the perfect 'away from it all' destination at any time of the year, but we think autumn and winter time is special, even if it rains!
Booking notes
Non refundable deposit of 25% with completed booking form balance eight weeks before arrival date. Final clean included. We do not charge a breakage deposit, preferring to trust our guests to tell us if anything requires replacing.
Guest comments
"We've had a wonderful week in your gorgeous gite, and have so enjoyed our stay. Dinner on the first night was excellent and just what we needed after a long drive. The gite has exceeded our expectations. If it wasn't for the fact that we both had jobs to go back to we would be moving in!" Chiara & Richard - August 2009
"Great place to use as a base - there is so many lovely places within a 40 mile radius. The gite is lovely and the patio garden is a wonderful sun trap, we never expected to use it so much at this time of the year, but we have had two weeks of sunshine. Thanks very much and best wishes" - Lesley & Peter Sept 2009
