Outside
The gardens comprise an acre of lawn, surrounded by walls of evergreen hedging, wide herbaceous borders and a large pond. A sheltered BBQ and dining terrace is surrounded by low stone walls bordered by a wisteria-draped wall and rose arbour. Ample off-road parking.
Coast/Beach
D-Day landing beaches and attractive fishing villages are between 20-40 minutes drive away. The west coast which is about 30 minutes drive away has sandy beaches and access to the Channel Islands by ferry.
Golf
The nearest golf course is about 20 minutes away.
Travel
The ferry port of Cherbourg is about 25 minutes drive away; Ouistreham about 90 minutes and Le Havre approx 2 hours. Dinard airport, served by Ryan Air from London Stansred, Bristol and East Midlands is approx 2 hours by car. A car is essential.

Further details
Hémevez is 6k from Valognes, a Centre for Music and the Arts. It is on the main train route from Paris (St Lazarre) to Cherbourg. It has good restaurants and shops, a swimming pool, a cinema and a thriving weekly market. Sporting activities available nearby include fishing, horse-riding, sailing, golf and tennis. It is excellent cycling and walking country and nature lovers will not want to miss the flora and fauna of the surrounding National Marshland Parc. Museums of all kinds abound. The area is a paradise for gardeners with over 60 parks and gardens open to the public, many of which surround chateaux and fine manoirs.
