Welcome to Chalet Cassis, a brand new chalet built in the traditional Savoyard construction to the highest specification. Conveniently situated in the picturesque village of St Jean d' Aulps, in the heart of the Porte de Soleil, in the French Alps which forms the largest linked area in the world for skiing by winter and multiple outdoors activities by summer. The area links the resorts of Morzine, Les Gets, Avoriaz, Chatel, St Jean d' Aulps, Morgins and Champery. The nearest chair lift is a 2 minute drive up the road (La Grande Terche) or by a free bus which stops 100m from the chalet. Built to the highest quality, Chalet Cassis sleeps 10 comfortably with 4 double bedrooms and a double sofa-bed in the lounge - each with its own private toilet and shower. There is no overcrowding and there are no bunk beds.

Changeover day
To make use of the cheaper flights, changeover days run from Sunday to Sunday. Out of peak season, it may be possible by prior arrangement to either do shorter breaks (minimum of 2 days) and to do changeover other than Sunday to Sunday

There is underfloor heating and a wood burning stove making it incredibly cosy on winter's evening, with patio doors leading to a wooden balcony where the hot tub is situated for winter or summer use (the tub will be available from mid summer 2008). The lounge is equipped with television (Satellite for English TV) and DVD player.

Outside
Easy parking next to the chalet, large lawned garden, covered terrace area with outdoor dining area (table and chairs). Lockable ski/bike store. From Mid Summer 2008 there will be a hot tub fitted on the balcony.
Coast/Beach
For those wishing to visit the seaside, it is only a few hours drive to the South coast of France.
Golf
Situated at the mouth of the Avoriaz resort, on the edge of a pine forest on the Proclou site, this 9 hole, par 36 course (2930 metres) designed by Hugues Lambert nestles in a beautiful setting commanding an exceptional view of the Aravis range. Its unusual location makes it one of the most spectacular courses in France. The course is just a few miles up the road from Chalet Cassis. There are also several other courses in the area.
Skiing
La Grande Terche, the local ski area to our chalet in Saint Jean d'Aulps (1km away or free bus stops 100m up the road), is ideal for beginners and intermediates whilst advanced skiers will appreciate the remote Roc d'Enfer run and the untouched powder on powder days. This area is included in the Portes du Soleil ski pass or you can purchase a much cheaper pass for Grande Terche only.
The Portes du Soleil is the largest linked ski area in the World, made up of 13 resorts over 2 countries, (France and Switzerland) and including the world class resorts of Morzine, Avoriaz, Les Gets, St.Jean d'Aulps, Chatel, Champery and Morgins. One lift pass covers the whole area. You could ski a different resort every day or tour as many different areas as you can fit into one day. For boarders there are excellent parks
The Portes Du Soleil has an enviable snow record. The proximity to Mont Blanc and Lac Leman creates a micro-climate which means that the area tends to get reliable snowfall.
Special interest holidays
Summer in the area of the Portes Du Soleil is actually busier that the Winter with a wealth of activities for the sporty or not so sporty. With the snow gone, the sun shining and temperatures between 70 and 80 degrees and fresh mountain air, the area is one of the most beautiful in the world.

Travel
The Chalet is just over an hours drive from Geneva airport with all but the last few miles being on the excellent Autoroute (motorway). Geneva airport makes use of the cheaper airlines that now fly in from the UK. Alternatively it's an easy 8-9 hours drive from either the Euro Tunnel or the ferry ports, with the most of the driving needing just 3 changes of Autoroute (motorway). The journey is only a few hours longer than by air and you can take a lot more with you and it can be much more fun!
Distances
The Chalet is within the village of St Jean d'Aulps so is just a few minutes from a supermarket, bakery and restaurants.
8-9 hours drive from either the Euro Tunnel or the ferry ports. 1km to nearest ski slope (free bus stops 100 m from chalet).
10-15 min drive to Morzine/Les Gets etc.
1 hour drive from Geneva (airport).
Further details
The centre of St. Jean d'Aulps is just 10 minutes walk from the chalet; there you will find 2 good restaurants, a very popular pizza bar, 2 bakeries, a supermarket, pharmacy, banks and a gym.
St. Jean d'Aulps is a great location for a holiday; it is just 10 minutes away from Morzine, 15 minutes from Les Gets, 25 minutes from Lake Geneva and is a peaceful alternative to the bigger resorts.
