Changeover day
Preferred changeover day Saturday; arrivals from 4pm, departures by 11am. If there are many requests for alternative changeover days we may offer some flexibility.

Notes on accommodation
Good range of English and French DVDs available for free use. Great library of books on France and the region, as well as English fiction for guests' use. Toys and books available for children to borrow; board games. Children's swings, rocking crocodile, rackets and football goal kit.
Outside
Private salt-water pool 11 x 5m with Roman end steps, very shallow end extending to deep end. High quality alarm. Warmed by bubble cover, which takes water temperature up to 32 degree celsius. Pool open subject to appropriate temperatures between May and October. Sun terrace next to pool with beautiful views up to mountain range above. Two barbecues, one gas and picnic table. Garden approximately half an acre, fully fenced, with apple, pear, fig and plum trees, with children's swings.
Coast/Beach
Canet Plage - 1 hour 15 mins. Lively atmosphere, marina and casino. Aquarium. Lagoon with fisher men's huts. St Cyprien Plage - 1 hour 25 mins. Seaside resort with large harbour. 3km of sand. Water sports available. Argeles-Plage - 1 hour 30 mins. Lively resort with many kids' facilities . 7km of supervised sandy beaches (June-Sept). Promenade with pine trees and Mediterranean plants. Collioure/Boramar beach - 1 hour 40 mins. Very attractive town and beach favoured by artists include Matisse.
Golf
Championship standard golf course at Carcassonne, 45 minutes.
Skiing
Nearest slope (Camurac), good family resort 30 minutes drive with 16 Alpine ski runs suitable for all levels, country-skiing loop and a marked track for snowshoeing. Alt 1 400-1 800m. More comprehensive skiing at Puyvalador within 45 minutes. Andorra slightly further.

Carcassonne (45 mins). Perpignan (60 mins). Toulouse (90 mins). Euro star and TGV direct to Quillan. Driving time from England - 12 hours! Car hire recommended.

About the owner
The White House is our way of putting right bad experiences in holiday rental properties abroad. We were sick of rural rentals that looked fabulous on the outside but which were useless if it rained; despaired of having big bedrooms but a tiny, ill equipped kitchen. Above all, we wanted to be able to jump in a pool then stroll off into town with the kids for lunch or a coffee. Our daughter was 2 when we bought the house and we now have a girl and boy aged 7 and 4. The house has all the stuff a family with kids across that age bracket need on a daily basis, but is stylish and spacious to suit couples without kids, too. With a wii, music system and large TV, American fridge freezer with ice on tap and power showers, you'll be as happy indoors as when you're out exploring this beautiful area.
