This idyllic 18th Century French Manor House (sleeps 6 -18+) and separate Gate House (sleeps 2-4) is set in its own 24 acre park bordered by the wooded banks of the river Armancon. Both houses are the perfect place for a holiday in France with family and friends, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere and offering much to enjoy on site as well as in the surrounding area. La Maison du Chateau has a heated swimming pool, all weather tennis court, walled garden, avenue, barbecue, table tennis, private fishing and a rowing boat on the river which runs through the park. We have a wonderful cook and helpful maids/babysitters who live in the adjoining village. La Maison du Chateau is the ideal venue for family holidays as well as painting, wine, bridge, cooking, historical/cultural tours, music, Pilates, walking and other activity holidays some of which we host ourselves; others can be hosted independently making use of the lovely surroundings and the invaluable support of our cook and staff.

Notes on prices
Rental varies from £2400 per week in low season to £7000 per week in peak season for rental of the Main House for a group of 12. Additional per person supplement applies for 13-22 people. Gate House is available for groups of 17+. There is a 1 week minimum stay during peak season. The services of our wonderful cook are included in the rental price at La Maison du Chateau. Please contact us for a detailed quote.

Gate House (Sleeps 4)

| The Gate House: This charming, simple 18th century, stone building nestles up against the elegant gateway to the park of La Maison du Chateau. It has two bedrooms (one double and one twin), a bathroom, as well as a large living room/kitchen with original flagstone floor and a very efficient log burning stove. The large garden has an eating area, barbecue and leads down to the river, were there is your own private rowing boat. The two bedrooms have polished wood floors. Beds in the first bedroom are a pair of 3ft twin beds which can be made up as a double bed. The second bedroom has a 5ft double bed. Linen (including bath towels and bath mats), blankets and pillows are all provided. Please note that there is no swimming pool at the Gate House, but there are some local water parks and swimming pools within easy driving distance and you can swim in the river. | |
Notes on accommodation
We have a lovely cook whose services are included in the peak season rental. We strongly recommend her for all other weeks. She is exceptionally good and the service is excellent value for a really relaxing carefree holiday. On arrival the rooms will be ready with beds made up, clean towels and fresh flowers according to season.
Outside
This charming manor house and park nestles on the edge of the quiet village of Cry-sur-Armancon.
The heated pool is set in a sun trap on the terrace close to the house. It is all now enclosed, to protect small children, with a clematis covered fence. There is a hot shower and changing space by the pool and a large open covered area with a fridge and barbecue where you can sit and eat. There are plenty of deck chairs, sun-beds and teak garden furniture.
It really is a paradise for both adults and children. We also have a new hard tennis court onsite.
Golf
There are many excellent Golf Courses in Burgundy. There are a couple of 9 hole golf courses under 30 mins. drive from La Maison du Chateau and two very good 18 hole 72-par golf courses approx 50mins. drive from La Maison du Chateau.
Special interest holidays
La Maison du Chateau has proved to be a perfect venue for painting holidays. Our aim is to give you a wonderful painting holiday with excellent tuition in this enchanting manor house set in its own idyllic park.
Wine Week (to be confirmed): Our resident tutor and guide for the week is a Master of Wine with a special knowledge of the wines and growers of Burgundy. The theme of the week will be small, intimate visits to some of the very best producers of both well known and less familiar wines.
Travel
Our local town, Montbard, is only 15 minutes drive from La Maison du Chateau and offers direct TGV links to London (4 hrs) and Paris (1 hr). It takes about 5 hours to drive from Calais. British Airways run flights to Lyon (2.30 hrs drive from Cry) and budget flights are also available with Easyjet from Luton to Geneva (3hrs drive from Cry) and with Ryanair from Stansted to Lyon.
