Boudet is a collection of three buildings set around a central grass courtyard in a tranquil rural location in the heart of Manche, Normandy, not far from Mt St Michel.

All buildings offer a truly relaxing holiday for those who want a home away from home with a high level of comfort and style. The charming stone Farmhouse with its turret sleeps 10 in three double rooms and two twin bedrooms. The Barn sleeps eight in two double en-suite bedrooms and two twins. The Cider Press is a studio with a mezzanine bedroom ideal for couples wanting peace and privacy.

The buildings are set around a rectangular grassed courtyard with an open sided building for all to share for alfresco eating. A traditional Norman bake house completes the square and is where communal bicycles are stored. The property sits in a two acre garden with an apple orchard at the front of the 'Barn and Cider Press' with a croquet lawn. The private rear garden is well-planted with shrubs and trees and has a pond.

Check availability The Cider Press
The Cider Press is a unique and charming building designed for a couple. The original apple press has been incorporated into the design and is the inspiration for the decor, which includes designer Bisque radiators. The building is open plan with a mezzanine bedroom with double bed, sofa, hanging rail, drawers and desk above the open plan reception/kitchen.

The ground floor has a seating area, kitchen with breakfast bar and separate shower room. A lovely stable door allows natural light to filter in.

The kitchen has a gas hob, microwave and small fridge - designed for people who shop daily and are likely to want to go out and enjoy the local restuarants. A BBQ is also provided for guests use along with outdoor furniture.

The Cider Press also has broadband and an i-pod docking station (from Easter 2011).

It is such a charming and romantic building we get a number of repeat visitors every year.

Notes on accommodation
All buildings are fully central heated with the Barn and Farm House also having delightful open fireplaces (we supply logs free of charge). Each property has been designed to a high standard and are very well maintained by our caretaker who lives 15 minutes away. The properties can be rented separately or together. We take great care that our holiday homes are to a very high standard and ensure kitchens are well stocked with crockery, cutlery, serving dishes, pot and pans as dining together is a key part of people's holidays. Each property has a BBQ. Boudet is surrounded by a large garden which is for all to enjoy. The rear garden has a pond and plenty of space for children to run aroud in. The more formal apple orchard at the front of the Barn and Cider Press has space for a croquet lawn (mallets are stored in the Barn). The open sided building is an outside dining area for all to use. All linen and towels are provided.

Accessibility
There is a parking area just by the side of the Farm House, with space for over ten cars.

All bedrooms are on the first floor.

Outside
There is a shared garden to the front and rear of the property. At the rear is a small pond as well as in the front of the Barn. There is also an outdoor eating area in an open sided building where there is garden furniture and bicycles are provided for all guests to share (stored in the Bakehouse).

Parking is in a dedicated parking area adjacent to the property. BBQs and garden furniture are provided.

We also provide a few bicycles which are kept in the bakehouse. It's a good idea to bring bikes if you enjoy cycling as Boudet is moments from a disused railway line which has now been converted into a cycle route. Please see the note on cycling.

Coast/Beach
Mount St Michel is about 50 minutes from Boudet. Carolles is the nearest beach 70 km away and the charming fishing town Cancale is 107 km from the property. Other recommended beaches are Deauville, Houlgate and Trouville-sur-Mer. Base de Loisirs La Ferte Mace is a 65 hectare leisure base centred around La Ferte Mace large lake which is a great alternative to a beach. It has lifeguards in July and August, a play area, volley ball, peddocs, mini golf etc.

Golf
Bagnoles de L’Orne's golf course is closest to us. It is a beautiful 9 hole course designed by Harold Becker in 1925 and situated in the middle of the Andaine forest. It is a very pretty, reasonably flat but physical course that dominates in the “doe-ford” glade. A river meanders through the forest and often borders the fairways.

The total length of this nine-hole course is 2401m for a total par of 66 and a FFG slope rate of 120 from the back tees. The river presents a hazard on 7 of the 9 holes and with several out of bounds it is not easy to score well. The stags and deer that roam the forest could also distract you.

Visitors are always welcome and, being situated on the edge of town it is easily accessible.

Special interest holidays
Boudet is agreat base for keen cyclists to stay at whilst exploring Normandy. We are moments from the Flers-Domfront veloroute or Voie Verte (a disused railway line cycle track) which forms part of an extensive network. This offers an excellent and safe opportunity to get about and explore the area - you can even cycle to Mont St Michel.
Do bring your own bikes. We have some on site but they are better used for short local trips!

Travel
Cars are essential. Caen - Ouistreham port 14km north east of Caen is 1.15 hrs away, served by Britanny Ferries from Portsmouth. St Malo with its ferry port is 1.5 hrs away and Cherbourg is 2 hrs. Calais and the Euro Tunnel are approximately a 5 hour drive.

Airports within 2 hrs are Rennes, Deauville (Ryanair from Stansted), Dinard (Ryanair flights from Bristol, Birmingham, London Stansted and East Midlands) and Cherbourg (Flybe from Southampton).

Distances
Nearest village with supermarket is 1km. Local amenities:
Local supermarket, bakeries, pharmacy, hairdresser, English grocer, post office, tabac and cafes in Barenton. Further shopping can be found at Mortain and Domfront (10km) and St Hilaire du Harcouet (15 km).

Further details
We provide Christmas trees for the properties for people staying over Christmas and new Year.

The local area is famed for its cider, poire and calvados – the apple and pear orchards are lovely in Spring. The charming castle of Carrouges and Chateau D’O are close by and well worth visiting. Le Haras du Pin, the national stud, is a great day out and very popular with children. St Fraimbault, a village fleuries is about 20 minutes from the property as is Ambrieres-les-Valées, where there is an outside swimming pool, archery, mini golf and canoeing. Aqualand at Avranches is fun and Claude Monet’s house and Grounds at Giverney are about 80km away. The ‘Suisse Normande’, a pleasant river valley with some crags and rolling hills and a lovely area for picnics and the opportunity to watch the multitude of paragliders is an easy day trip. Walking, cycling and even canoeing from Pont d'Ouilly are other options. For those with younger children visit the Enchanted Village at Bellefontaine north of Mortain. Situated in a large parkland it offers a variety of traditional attractions including a miniature railway, electric cars and a quaint fantasy land.
Open air swimming pool at Mortain (15 min drive), horse riding near Barenton. Golf at Clecy, Granville and Dol de Bretagne. Bungee jumping near Clecy.

Guest comments
'We had a fantastic time. Your property is the best that we have ever been to in France, either French or UK owned. We would go out in the day and say 'let’s go home'. The standard of workmanship that you have achieved is superb. We will be back next year and of course recommend it to our friends. Although I am sure people before us have said they would prefer to keep it a secret!'

'We fell in love with the place on the internet when we first saw it. The reality far exceeded all our expectations. The adults and children all had a great time- plenty of room for everyone and so peaceful! Also loved the area, it’s a beautiful part of France. Didn’t want to leave – can’t wait to come back.'

'A bit of paradise. We really have had a most beautiful week here in Normandy. The location is fantastic.'

'Boudet is by far the best holiday home we have ever stayed in and is somewhere we would love to continue to visit in many years to come.'
