Notes on accommodation
Parents with small children who do not yet know how to swim should be aware of water hazards: 2 fishponds and a stream that feeds the ponds. The swimming pool has a large shallow end suitable for children, but they should be supervised at all times.
The property is centrally heated and is suitable for use year-round.
The property benefits from a co-property arrangement with our neighbours which protects our view in perpetuity and allows guests unlimited access to the orchards and vineyards directly in front of the house.
Accessibility
The property is all on one level with the exception of the loggia in the study which is accessed by stairs. Persons with limited mobility and those in wheelchairs have found it to be a suitable and accessible house for their use.
Outside
The house is situated in a shaded garden with mature poplars and walnut trees. There is a large rectangular fishpond in the lower field directly in front of the house. The house itself is designed so that the glass sliding doors can be fully opened onto a trellised veranda with views of the garden, the lavender and the Luberon mountains.
Beyond the garden lies a cherry orchard and a vineyard which are yours to walk in and explore. The swimming pool, which is private, is 16m x 10m, and is sheltered from exterior view by bamboo. There is a barbecue, 2 exterior dining tables with chairs and outdoor recliners as well as hammocks.
Coast/Beach
The French south coast is one hour driving time. Swimming is especially good at Les Calanques, accessible from Cassis, about an hour from our door via auto-route.
Golf
There is a golf course near Fontaine de Vaucluse, about 20 mins away.
Skiing
Ski hills on the lower slopes of the Mont Ventoux are within 45 minutes. Slightly farther are the ski resorts of Gap, Digne and Barcelonette in the lower Alps. Residents of the area do go there to ski and back in a day. We have not done so.
Special interest holidays
Our neighbours - contact on request - provide such special interest holidays, combining architectural tours of the region combined with gastronomy.
