Accessibility
The property is not strictly wheelchair friendly, although 1 bedroom on ground floor with bathroom, steps required to access through kitchen or front door.
Outside
Grounds run down to swimming pool and covered terrace area with BBQ.
Oak framed terrace (80m) looks out over the pool area and rolling countryside.
Steps down to enclosed pool area. Pool 12m x 5m, heated, patio area to catch the evening sun.
Coast/Beach
The Atlantic coast is a pleasant 1 hour 40 mins away to Hossegor the mecca for surfing in Europe. If you would like some glitz and glamour then head towards Biarritz with its many boutiques and seaside restaurants.
Closer to home are many lakes (lacs) offering waterslides, wakeboarding, waterskiing, fishing etc.
Near Agen (1 1/2 hour away) is Walibi Aquitaine, a water/theme park with something for all the family.
Golf
Chateau Pallanne Golf only 15 minutes away, beautiful views on this 18 hole golf course which winds around the 18 century chateau, with the Pyrenees forming a stunning backdrop. Another 6 courses 30 to 40 minutes away.
Skiing
1 hour 30 mins to the Pyrenees and the picture perfect pistes. La Mongie/Tourmalet. At the foot of the Pic du Midi Mountain the Domaine du Tourmalet is the largest resort in the French Pyrenees. It comprises the villages of Bagneres and La Mongie, and is not far from Cauterets. The skier has 100Km of pistes and 32Km of lifts.
Cauterets. Bordering the national park of the Pyrenees this ski area is picturesque and exciting. The resort is made up of two areas, Le Cirque du Lys is dedicated to downhill skiing and boarding whereas Le Pont d'Espagne is a haven for cross country skiing, raqueting and walking.
Special interest holidays
Yoga and dancing can be organised at Chateau Arlens 5 minutes away. Fishing available locally in either rivers or lacs running through the gers. Alternatively sea fishing only 1.5 hr away. The house is situated within the St Mont wine region. Reviewed as some of the most beneficial wine for your health in the world! Also close by is Madiran and Armagnac regions to explore.
Travel
Nearest airport at 1 hour is Pau, flights from Stansted and bristol with Ryanair. Toulouse 1 hour 40 mins flights from many UK airports with easyjet, jet2, flybe, BA. Bordeaux 2 hour again as per Toulouse Airport. Biarritz 2 hours flights from Dublin, Stansted and Gatwick.
Distances
Nearest village is Plaisance 5 mins drive away which has a large supermarket, 3 bakeries, 2 bars, 2 restaurants, 2 butchers, bank and a weekly market on thursday mornings.
