Beautiful Normandy semi detached cottage, set in the sleepy hamlet of Taillemesnil which consists of ten houses built around the local farm. Set in pretty, enclosed gardens which are laid to lawn on three sides, open fields and woods are beyond the gardens. Bailly en Riviere is around 3/4 mile away where you will find a bakery, post office, local shop and bar. The wonderful town of Dieppe is only a 20 minute drive and Le Treport is around 25 minutes, here you will find bustling seaside resorts with great beaches, wonderful restaurants and all manner of markets and shops. Rouen is around an hour which must be visited to appreciate its splendour. The cottage has been restored to include everything you will need for your holiday. It has all the modern features required but retains its quaint character from its origins around 300 years ago. Exposed beams throughout the house, inglenook fireplace with wood burner. LCD TV with SKY, DVD/VCR (with large library) and PlayStation 2 and games.

Changeover day
Changeovers on Saturday during busy months - arrival after 4pm and you must vacate by 10am. We will take short breaks out of busy periods and changeover day can be moved out of season, we try to be as flexible as possible to accommodate you.

Duvets and pillows provide, you must bring your own duvet covers, sheets and pillow cases. You will need to bring towels with you, there is a washing machine to wash laundry during your stay.

 

Notes on accommodation
The house is suitable for everyone including families with children, there are board games, outdoor toys and a PlayStation 2 with two controllers and games. There is a travel cot and highchair. There are electric heaters in all bedrooms for any chilly nights. All electric, wood and cleaning after your stay is included in the price.

Outside
The garden is laid to lawn on three sides, it is fully enclosed with gate to the off road parking and road. There is very little traffic passing the house as the lane leads onto another 3 houses. There is a good deal of privacy provided by hedges and shrubs and both houses next door are also holiday homes, one of which is also owned by a lovely English couple. There is a shed with outdoor toys, swings for kids, outdoor seating for 6 with table, BBQ and our well which is safe for children and wishing. The back garden looks over open fields and we are often visited by the very nosey local cows. It is very quiet and the only noises that can usually be heard are the farmyard animals from the farm across the road and occasional tractors.

Coast/Beach
Dieppe is the closest resort around 10 miles away, Le Treport is around 15 miles. Both are busy resorts during the summer and offer wonderful dining, bars and extensive shopping in Dieppe. Le Treport is famous for its monorail up through the cliff side where impressive views and a glass of wine await you at the top. There are casinos and nightlife in both of these resorts. There are numerous picturesque towns and seaside villages dotted down the coast and all within a short journey by car.

Golf
There is a good course in Dieppe. Abbeville and the famous Eterat is around an hours drive.

Travel
The nearest port is Dieppe which is 20 minutes by car, the ferry goes to Newhaven from here and the crossing time is around 3 hours 30 minutes. Boulogne is around 80 minutes by car - Speed ferries are the cheapest way to cross the channel and its only a 50 minute crossing. Euro tunnel is 90 minutes by car. Calais is around 100 minutes by car and is easily accessible via the excellent French motorways. Le Havre is around 90 minutes by car. There are airports at Le Havre, Rouen and Le Touquet.

Distances
The nearest village with amenities is Bailly en Riviere - 3/4 mile. Envermeu is the nearest town with a supermarket, fresh produce shops, banks, market, restaurants and fuel - 4 miles. Larger supermarket equal to our stores can be found in St Nicolas - 6 miles. Dieppe, Le Treport, Neufchatel are all around 25 minutes by car. Rouen is around an hour by car. Paris and Euro Disney are around 3 hours by car.

Further details
The cottage is an excellent base for discovering this unspoilt area of France and within easy travelling distance from the UK. There are so many wonderful villages to visit locally all set in rolling countryside, through twisting valleys and scenic roads. There are several markets locally, further details can be found at the house. Criel sur mer and St Vallery are excellent for there quiet beaches and dining. There are several local restaurants within a short drive where you will find excellent French cuisine. Beyond the local area there are some great towns and cities to explore. Rouen was one of Monet's favourite places to paint and the 'City of Spires' will not fail to impress any visitor. The Normandy beaches and Bayeux are within 90 minutes drive and Paris and Disney are easily accessible with the excellent French motorways. If you are looking to relax, walk and take in the real French life, or if you wish to explore the beauty of Normandy then this is the ideal place to visit.
