Adriers is a small village 60 minutes south of Poitiers and is serviced by the village post office, pharmacy, doctor's surgery, small supermarket, restaurant, tabac, baker/patisserie, butchers. Church and of course the mayor's office. The village is quiet, but contains all you will need for a comfortable stay. The patisserie is only 2 doors down, so the only hassle you'll get is queuing up with the other locals in the morning to get your fresh croissants. The house is a three-storey end terrace town house that has been extensively renovated inside. It is a deceptively large village house with large rooms and its own driveway and large garage/barn and private garden to the rear for relaxing and bbq. It is only 20 minutes from Montmorillon and ideal to discover the beautiful rustic Charentes region with many attractions, such as Futuroscope nearby. Regular flights to Poitier and Limoges airport are available and good rail and road links make the area relatively easy to get to, enjoy.

Two hours drive from the West Coast however many large inland lakes and fantastic pools nearby. Day trips to La Rochelle and the coast possible.

Special interest holidays
Historic town of Montmorillon, large cultural town set on the River Gartempe and famous for its paper and writing festival. Lovely City of Poitiers and Futuroscope nearby, Confolons Music Festival in August, generally a lovely rural and rustic area with plenty to do.
Swimming, Adriers own man made lake with all facilties 5-10 min walk from house with small beach (life guard from 1pm) shower and changing facilities, great to cool down in the evening. Also the larger lake and facilities at St Martins Lar (20min drive west) with battery powered pirate boats and canoes for hire. This lake has a large beach and swimming area (again life guard from 1pm) and lovely picnic areas with a very good restaurant that projects over the lake - great for a day out - take the cool box?
Pools - Montmorillon - Civaux, The Abyss (incl diving tank and bowling alley) Chauvanay with open air copper doom that they open up in the summer.
Travel
Airports at Poitiers/Limoges both within an hour's drive from the door of the house.
By car 3-4 hours from St Malo and many very good autroutes (motorways) to make taking a car very viable.
Rail- Poitiers is linked to Paris with the TGV railway.
Car hire - If you do fly - Ryanair offer could discounted rates depending on the season and car hire with Hertz- linked to Ryan Air make this a very affordable option.
Ferries - Speed Ferries from Dover to Boulonge-longer trip but cheap 30-60 return
