Welcome to "La Machotte". It stands for owl in Old Provençal.
This is the ideal get away for lovers of a peaceful and authentic place in the heart of the Provence. We invite you to take a tour and hopefully to fall for this place as much as we did. La Machotte is set on 2.7 acres garden in the middle of beautiful pine and oak trees, with a spectacular open view of the nearby village Fayence and the distant mountains. This is a place to breathe, relax, daydream and simply enjoy life with family and friends. The property has been recently fully refurbished. We created a harmonious atmosphere where contemporary design balances the spirit of the Provence. There is a 7m x 4m outdoor private swimming pool. There are no immediate neighbours. This beautiful spacious 5 bedroom estate accommodates for up to 10 adults. There are 2 houses: the main house sleeping 6 and a guest house sleeping 4. The mild climate of the South of France is ideal for golf lovers in autumn and winter time.

Notes on prices
Prices are for the property per week in Euros.
Prices are inclusive of cleaning, linens and heating.
Ask for our special rates for long winter lets over 2 weeks. Otherwise short breaks may be available upon request.
Changeover day
Our changeover day in mid to high season (early June to mid September) is Saturday with the departure to be by 10am and arrival from 5pm. Otherwise arrival and departure times, dates are negotiable.

Main House: Butterfly room, double. Bordeaux room, double, which can easily be converted into a twin. Century room, double. En-suite bathroom to bedroom 1 with bath, shower and WC. Individual bathroom to bedroom 2 with shower and WC (reached via the corridor). En-suite bathroom to bedroom 3 with shower and WC. The Guest House is excluded from renting for la petite Machotte, and hence also allow smaller parties to benefit from a peaceful and wonderfull stay at the property. |

Notes on accommodation
Linen, towels and beach towels are provided. A maid comes to clean midweek for an extra 3 hours and on changeover day for stays over a week. Extra cleaning can be provided at 15 euros per hour.
In July and August the property can only be rented out in its entirety, while at other times the main house may be rented on its own or with the cottage as an additional option.
Outside
Private swimming pool (7m x 4m). There is a terrace with table and chairs to seat 10 adults. There is a BBQ area with table and chairs to seat 10 adults. There are 10 sun loungers, hammocks under the pine trees and a table tennis table.
Coast/Beach
There are several famous Mediterranean beaches in easy reach by car. For example Mandelieu-La Napoules; Fréjus; St Raphael; Cannes; Ste Maxime and St Tropez (for those last two we strongly recommend during summer time to take the ferry from St Raphaël instead of driving).
Also Les Iles de Lerrins, Cannes - Small islands off the beach of Cannes which can be reached by public ferry or sailing boat.
Golf
Domaine de Terre Blanche (Four Seasons) is a club of outstanding quality with two 18-hole golf courses plus a golf academy with a floodlit practice range and all weather covered positions.

Golf de l'Esterel is just over a mile away from the wonderful beaches of Saint-Raphael. This course actually runs into the Mediterranean Sea giving it magnificent views and making it wonderfully relaxing.

Skiing
Isola 2000 is about 2 hours drive from Seillans and offers skiing at 2000 metres altitude from December to April.
Gréolières Les Neiges is 1 1/2 hours drive and offers skiing at 1400-1700 metres altitude from Christmas to March. The resort, though relatively small, is good for learning and can be excellent after a big snowfall. The resort also has snow cannons.
Travel
The villa is approx. 55 minutes easy drive from Nice Airport. A car is necessary.
Toulon Airport is 1 hour away while Marseille airport is a 2 hour drive.
Distances
3 minutes drive to Seillans.
15 minutes drive to Fayence.
20 minutes drive to Marché Paysans in Tourrettes, local farmers market, open every day of the week in the summer
Cannes is 35 mins away.

Five minutes car drive from the house you will reach Seillans. Seillans is a picturesque medieval place, classified as 'one of France's most beautiful villages', where the famous artist Max Ernst chose to spend the last years of his life. In the cobbled square, dappled with sunlight, it is possible to find a quiet table beside a flowing spring water fountain and enjoy some rosé or a spot of lunch before continuing to explore the winding streets of this beautiful village. Seillans has a weekly market and boasts a boulangerie, a small supermarket, a chemist, a bistro and a 'tabac', which will provide you with your foreign newspaper. Within a radius of 10km, you can reach other medieval villages (villages perchés), also with weekly markets, antique shops, restaurants and cafes.
Seillans is as well culturally boosting, with two local arts galleries, art crafts ateliers such as potteries, and classical concerts held in picturesque venues.

25% non-returnable deposit on booking. Remaining balance plus a refundable security bond of €500, 8 weeks prior to arrival. Prices are for the rental of the entire property above, per week. Bookings run from 5pm Saturday until 10am Saturday. Price includes heating, electricity, water and linen.

Hello,
My name is Alys and my husband´s Michael. We have 2 young boys.
I am French, native myself from Seillans and my husband is German. We currently live in Germany but spend as often as we can time in the South of France.
The boys love it and regularly ask when is our next trip scheduled.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
Having grown up in Seillans, I fully appreciate the beauty of our region and the very obvious advantage of our mild climate. As a young adult and now mother of a young family we kept spending all our free time in our family estate in Fayence. It has always been very clear to my husband and myself that this is the place we wanted to retire to. So we started in the late summer 2007 to look for a house that could be our heaven on earth for the many years to come. When we visited La Machotte we fell in love with the views and the magnificent ground between those old trees.
We started refurbishing and renovating the house. In July 2008 all works where finished and we spend our first weeks in La Machotte.
Our wildest dreams have come true, it is truly heaven on earth. Pure peace and happines
Unique benefits of the property
When we stay at La Machotte we enjoy being so close to the nature. The ground is so large that there is always something new to discover. The boys climb on trees, look for wood or go through their secret ways. We adults can just relax on the terrace, appreciate the views and listen to the birds.
In the summer we spend most of the time outside by the pool. The days being just punctuated by some mediterraneans meals and in the evening by the very important apéritif.
What we most love about the house is that it is aery outside just as much as inside. We designed an interior, unlike many other traditional provence houses, which allow for space and light. We intended to be as minimalist as all modern comfort would allow. Our colors are white and grey, which creates a most peaceful atmospher
